This company is going to reduce the height of a linden tree by 8 to 9 meters and didn't care to present a justification for the over excessive cutting. Actually, all they presented was a lousy drawing. Then again, the Hammersmith council where the tree is has shown again and again its neglect towards trees in conservation areas. Sadly, it might be legal in this country to disfigure a tree but it's certainly immoral from an environmental point of view to do so. This planned disfiguration/mutilation of a tree in a conservation area is an example of the council's neglect towards air quality standards and biodiversity as both will be affected by the destruction of 8 meters of a tree. Cutting 8 meters of the tree will considerably reduce the tree's ability to "absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen in exchange." "It is proposed that one large tree can provide a day’s supply of oxygen for up to four people." The unnecessary cutting will also reduce shelter and food for wild life singing birds and wood pigeons. And it will considerably reduce the space for bird's nesting.
I have used Edward Payne every year for a number of years to do annual pruning work. The team have done a great job, resulting in compliments from my neighbours. The team were all very helpful and professional and have always done a good job in tidying up as they leave. The office staff have also always been very helpful and efficient. Thoroughly recommended.
Had work done with neighbours on two trees and overhanging branches on a third. Whilst there was still a little work to be done on the overhanging branches after the initial visit the job has not been completed to the full satisfaction of my neighbours and I.
Edward Payne & Co were fantastic to work with. Highly professional from my initial call to final invoice. They were perfectly on time, and kept me updated every step of the job. The quote provided was highly detailed, outlined exactly what we agreed and the cost. I had 3 x trees reduced, and one felled. On the day of the job, the team were on time, professional and considerate. They checked in with me to ensure I was happy with the work during the job as well as after, tidied up after themselves and genuinely seemed to enjoy their work. Which always makes for a better job. When I need my trees reduced again, I will be calling Edward Payne & CO straight away!
I can not recommend Edward Payne tree surgeons enough. I have used them several times in the last 18 months and they have always been incredibly helpful and totally professional. The last time I used them was this week 14th Oct 2020 when Darren and his team took down two 60’+ Tree of Heavens from our back garden. The quality of their work and post tree-felling clean up was outstanding. Literally with the exception of the lightest dusting of sawdust near the stumps due for removal in one month after poisoning there was not one leaf, twig or branch left behind or in the side passage or on the driveway. If it weren’t for the fact that the trees have now gone you would not know they had been!! Can not recommend highly enough!!
Brilliant experience!!! I needed some urgent tree works to my Horse Chestnut and Holly tree and after speaking with the lovely ladies at the office, I promptly had a free quote booked attended by the Director, followed by a reasonable estimate. I went ahead with the works and the team were extremely polite, professional and diligent! They even worked through a sudden down pour! Priced, booked, completed and paid for in no time. I definitely recommend using them!!
I had an old beautiful old Spanish Sweet Chestnut tree in the back of my property that really need some TLC after a storm had broken several branches. I called several tree surgeons and had quotes from 3 but I was won over by the professional website and cheap quote form Edward Payne. They arrived late and with a very rough looking bunch of old fashioned workmen. The 'hello luv, any chance of a cup of tea' sort. Simply not appropriate in this day and age. I must say, the tree did look very good after they had finished but then they asked me for more money than I was originally quoted because they said it had taken much longer than they anticipated. I thought this was very unfair because although I was there all day no-one had told me it was taking longer and they had several very long cigarette and tea breaks during the time they were there. The butts of which they threw under my hedgerow! I do not begrudge anyone taking regular breaks but these were long and raucous breaks with several large men talking and laughing at high volume and it made me feel very uncomfortable. In the end after much arguing and with the lead man becoming quite aggressive, I paid in full because as I was alone in the house I felt intimidated. I would not recommend using Edward Payne & Co. I think there are much more professional trees surgeons out there.
This is the third time that we have used Edward Payne & Co and as usual the work was carried out in a pleasant and efficient manner at a very competitive price. Our sycamore tree which had spread over two neighbouring gardens should have presented problems, but it was taken down and removed through our mid-terrace house with the minimum of disturbance. The paths, hallways and forecourt were all swept clean before they left. I have no hesitation in recommending them to potential customers.
I had work done with this company in 2013 which was done well so I decided to use them again in 2018. When calling them to arrange the service I found the woman in the office extremely rude. She left an inaudible voicemail on my phone in fits of laughter whilst trying to pronounce my name which I found totally unprofessional and insulting. On top of this when I received the 2018 quote it was £400 more expensive than in 2013 for the exact same work. When I questioned this and produced the earlier quote the company completely ignored me. I don't recommend using them.
I needed a tree felling and removing from my garden. This company came and did an assessment for a quote on Monday morning and by friday lunchtime the tree about 30ft tall was gone. The work was quick and done very professionally. The workmen were nice and very tidy. Would recommend.
