"Rocks by Rail, the living Ironstone Museum, is the only museum dedicated to the quarrying and transport of Iron Ore in the East Midlands.Showing just some of the machines made by Rustons of Lincoln, Ransome & Rapiers of Ipswich and other quarry machinery companies, the museum tracks the ore from quarrying to dispatch by rail to the Iron and Steel works around the country.Steam passenger trains run along 3/4 mile of restored mineral branch, while trains are loaded and marshalled in the quarry branch by vintage machines.Locomotives and wagons of the iron ore quarries are on display in our purpose built exhibition building, while smaller artifacts are shown in the Woolsthorpe Engine Shed and Sundew Cafe.A great day out."
