About The Traveller's Rest in Caerphilly is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character.Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu Story Although the town of Thornhill is a relatively modern area, The Traveller's Rest dates back as far as the 1800's, records show it was granted its first license in 1864. Unlike many other pubs, The Traveller's Rest remained open throughout the Second World War. Mr George Lightfoot ran it throughout the war and continued to do so until 1971
