About Family run, independent, nurturing care for children who play & learn with qualified staff. We accept 15 & 30 hour 2 &3 yr funding 'Love, Learn & Smile' Story St James Nursery and Pre-School has its home in a large Victorian building opposite St James Park in Shirley, Southampton. Opened in 1976, it has established over the years a reputation for providing top quality nursery care. We offer flexible care for children aged 0-5 years. We accept both 2 and 3 year government funding. We have 40 children who enjoy playing and learning in a friendly, stimulating and secure environment cared for by qualified and experienced staff. We offer a range of freshly cooked, nutritious meals and snacks. We are holders of the Healthy Early Years Award. At this early age we are laying the foundations stones upon which the children's later education will be built. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and we take particular care to ensure that every child has the opportunity to develop at their own pace. We want the children to leave our care happy, confident and eager to learn with a profound sense of well being and respect for others.
