About Official page of Cwmtawe Community School, an 11-16 secondary school based in Pontardawe, Swansea. Story Cwmtawe was originally created as a comprehensive school in 1969 by combining all the secondary schools in the area. It was moved into purpose built premises in 1996 and now benefits from accomodation and facilities which are second to none. We currently have 1260 pupils on roll with many year groups oversubscribed. Over the past ten years, the school has gone from strength to strength exceeding both National and Local Authority levels. In fact, data provided byYellisandFisher Family Trustplaces Cwmtawe within the top 5% of schools in the UK for value added and as a result Cwmtawe was presented with the prestigious ACCAC award for 'Most Improved School' during 2005.
