About PKAVS Minority Communities Hub (formerly MEAD) offers free advice and information for minority ethnic communities in Perth & Kinross.- www.pkavs.org.uk Story PKAVS Minority Communities Hub (MEAD) offers free advice and information for minority ethnic communities in Perth & Kinross.- www.pkavs.org.uk Mission * Provide multi-lingual information, advice and guidance to ethnic minority communities to enable them to effectively access services and opportunities. * Raise awareness amongst minority ethnic communities about available services and how services can be accessed. * Support individuals and communities to overcome language or cultural barriers * Liaise with other organisations; and to refer and signpost clients to other sources of help, for example Welfare Rights Team, CAB etc * Help with filling application forms e.g. Housing application or Benefit forms etc. * Provide help and support to organise cultural events and community groups. * Highlight community issues and concerns to relevant agencies. * Arrange benefit check to maximise individual income. * Act as facilitator between service providers and targeted minority ethnic communities to ensure services are aware of community issues, needs and problems before setting up new services and adopt current services to better meet service users’ needs. * Provide Cultural Awareness, Equality and Diversity training to voluntary and statutory service providers.
