It was amazing, we arrived after the staff had gone, but they gave us very in depth instructions, so it was very easy to understand. The staff where lovely especially andrew who gave us some info on how to get to places and where to go. The breakfast was really nice. There was a lovely selection of fruit teas and juices. The continental was lovely. The room was massive as we got upgraded to the suite for free. It was very quite. Nice and warm and the room was so lovely. It was a great location not too far away from everything. All the staff where nice they told us how to use the trams and where the nearest stops where. Andrew also gave us the business card and to talk to him next time we want to stay so we can match the prices. Great value for money as well.
My stay at this hotel was a nightmare I'd prefer never to wake up from. The room's floor seemed to echo the disastrous management decisions of the hotel, creaking with every step of neighboring guests like a dissonant symphony. The paper-thin walls turned my room into the virtual meeting point for all adjacent guests. Cleaning appeared to be a mirage, with a solitary visit in four days that left the environment as welcoming as a landfill. You're at risk of catching a cold since the wall-mounted radiator is merely a decorative artwork, and a woeful electric heater futilely attempts to warm the vastness of the room. The paid breakfast, dubbed "Continental," was a taste illusion, comprising only packaged foods of unknown quality, without even a hint of bread, jams, or hot dishes. To complete the picture, the water pressure in the bathroom was a sad reminder of what a decent shower should be. Adding to the mix the lack of an elevator and the prospect of climbing 78 stairs if your room is numbered beyond 26, I find myself strongly advising against this place. After 11 pm, when the reception is deserted, you're left to fate in a night of uncertainty and poor taste. I genuinely feel sorry for the staff, who appear extremely courteous and helpful but deserve to work in a better place. Despite their professionalism, the hotel's price is among the highest in the area, making the experience even more bitter. It's a true shame that such a competent team has to operate in such a disappointing setting. Rooms: Cold and noisy Nearby activities: Good position for visiting the city centre Safety: Nobody at the entrance after 10pm
You get what you pay for! It was a nice hotel close to downtown. Sometimes it’s the people who work there makes the difference. The guy who worked at the front desk Sam was really great. He always greeted us with a smile and positivity and he really went beyond with his service by helping us with parking, making us a drink at bar and helping he literally came all the way to parking to show where it’s with the reservation. He really must be paid well or his employers are lucky to have him. The rooms were basic but clean and tidy. We weren’t looking for a 5 star hotel room. They have a cute bar as well. I would stay here again
We only visited to watch the Scottish rugby game in the bar. The TV was not too impressive but no matter. The Guinness was good and not too pricey. Barman kept disappearing for long periods. He obviously thought we were a trustworthy bunch. This hotel could do with some investment and an upgrade. It is in a very nice part of the West End.
The staff were amazing and the hotel is in a good location close to transportation but that is where the positives end. The room was dirty, moldy, extremely cold, and in desperate need of repair/upgrades. Rooms: Dirty, cold, in need of upgrades. Safety: Felt safe
Run-Down place, value for money not given roughly 200 Euros per night Bathroom needs a deep cleanse On the towel there was hair from a previous guest and some red fluffy stuff Cold room December, constant gust from the windows Chaps at reception friendly though
Me and my friend stayed at The thistle hotel for 3 nights and the service was absolutely incredible. Super nice and friendly and helped us in every way possible. One guy that really did his job and did stand out was Andrew! we think the name was Andrew One of the best service experience in my life to be honest! Would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back.
The staff were great! The windows opened enough to get some fresh air, but it is a historic building and doesn’t have air conditioning. Also, the West End is a great place to stay and is within walking distance to the tram and pretty much everything else. All in all, it was a great stay and I’d do it again. Kudos!Hotel highlightsQuiet, Great value
Normally my review would be lower however please read it all to understand. My wife and I were traveling from the US. When we arrived we were met by Andrew who was absolutely amazing and pleasant. He gave us tips and tricks and checked us in early. We met in the middle of the day Matthew who was kind and helped us too. We ran into an issue with our room at night. The owner was on staff and took to fixing it immediately. When we realized we would be unable to fix the issue in a quick manner. He immediately started trying to find us a new hotel immediately. When he found one, he told us it would take too long for Expedia to refund us and he didn't want us to be out of pocket. So he walked us over and paid for our new room. I can say anyone who says their customer service isn't good, simply is not paying attention. Now the rooms are older, this is Scotland and if you are expecting new state of the art and fancy. It's not really going to hit that mark. It's affordable and a place to lay your head at night, if it wasn't for the customer service and response from the owner and staff I would have rated it lower. However nothing could diminish the amazing staff to me.
I stayed at the hotel with my family for a weekend . The hotel was nice and boutique . The building had history and the rooms were spacious. Decent hotel overall. However , it was the extremely friendly and welcoming service by Andrew and Sam which was the highlight of our stay and set the standard high. As long as the hotel employs such great staff, I will keep coming back.
