We had a fantastic time renting from Ecosse Sports Car Hire. The car really made our trip, I couldn't think of a better way to see the Scottish highlands. The service provided was also very efficient and professional.

If you enjoy driving and are prepared to leave the kitchen sink behind, look no further! We hired Sapphire Blue to drive the NC500, stopping 2 nights at most locations to allow time for some hiking. The car is a classic and in excellent condition, a pleasure to drive, and very reasonably priced. We drove with the top down when the weather allowed. It was quick and easy to put it up when needed. Alan from Ecosse was extremely helpful. The boot rack made it possible for us to pack for 12 nights away, including the hiking gear.
3 day rental for visit to mostly distilleries and castles. Worked great though they ARE smaller cars. My son and I are both 6'+ so it wasn't a fast in-and-out of the car, but once in the car it was a blast to drive. We were lucky and had mostly good weather so we got to go topless much of the time. Alan was very responsive to our rental time/session. He picked us up from the train station and was flexible about the return. Reasonable rates for the car. No question I'll use him and his cars on our next visit.
Had a very enjoyable 72 hour hire of the “Excellent Green” sport’s car and loosely followed the NE 250 anticlockwise from Elgin in early May. Everything worked very smoothly, from initial booking, sorting out paperwork and collection and return of the car from Elgin railway station..thanks Alan. No problems with the car over this period either and the hire is very good value I feel. Took a little time to get used to the particular driving characteristics of the car as compared to a “modern” car. E.g. greater sense of speed, manual locking of both car doors and remembering to turn off the lights! Would recommend having the top down as much as possible even if the weather doesn’t look good. With a little bit of practice and teamwork between driver and passenger, it is possible to lower and raise the softop within seconds, so can easily avoid getting wet in a sudden downpour…! Would also check opening times of National Trust for Scotland properties as many are closed early in the week. The “snow road” is exhilarating and would spend more time on the north coast rather than the east…and be very mean with your luggage!

A cost effective way to hire a fun car. While these cars must now be considered modern classics, the one Ecosse Sports Car Hire lent me inspired confidence. If you're curious about classic sports car or mx-5 ownership, or you just want something more fun than what the mainstream car hire companies offer, I recommend a holiday romance with an mx-5.
We hired one of Alan's MX-5's for a weekend in May and it was spot on. Alan was very helpful with the hire and we'll probably be back in September.
