Lovely restaurants. The owner is very helpful and friendly. I would say the food is pretty authentic. Love the noodle soup, the broth is very subtle and hearty. I came twice in 2 days Vegetarian options: You should inform the waiter/waitress if you are veggie.

The hand rolled sushi is worst I have had. There are far better place for lesser price. Udon noddle used is mass produce probably brought from a wholesaler. The broth used for the noddle tasted something out of a pack, rather than something that was made in the restaurant. For the price they charge I expected better. Overpriced, over rated, pretentious Japanese food. The deco is outdated and rundown. Very limited choice of drink.
My new favourite Japanese restaurant. Don't let the simple exterior fool you, this place is a gem. The food was delicious and the rice to salmon proportions of the nigiri were perfect. I can't wait to go here again. They were accommodating with gluten free soya source and menu options as well. Parking: Large paid car park right beside it that has free times too.

Highly recommended! They do authentic Japanese dishes, a bit pricey but worth every penny, especially recommend the scallop nigiri which is really sweet and thick, also the braised pork belly and black cod. The cheesecake was just alright tho.
Incredible sushi! Every single mouthful was delightful. I especially enjoyed the tuna belly which was worth every penny. It is slightly on the higher end of prices for Derby, but if you can treat yourself, I highly recommend it. I know that this kind of meal in London would have costs three times as much for the exact same dishes. I also love the authentic Japanese feel that you get from the restaurant. I believe that the term for a sushi master is ‘Itamae’ and this is definitely what the gentleman in Ebi Sushi is. Finally, the service is excellent due to the size of the restaurant, extremely attentive and received all our drinks and meals in good timing.
The best sushi I've had in the UK. A small authentic Japanese sushi restaurant that caters to the many Toyota employees that want a taste of home. Get it whilst you can! Tip: fish day is Tuesday so to get the freshest sushi go early in the week! They don't normally do takeaway, it's normally a sit down restaurant, so if they're busy they might just refuse your takeaway order. Or just try again later in the evening. Typically you will need to book for Friday and Saturday night since it's small, but just in case, I would advise you book on any night you decide to go. They also have a specials menu - have to ask since it depends on whatever the chef decided to prepare or buy and it's written up on the board on the wall but written in Japanese. Lastly if you're going to be ordering a decent amount such as £200-400+ for your party maybe try to get there earlier before other people do… it's only a few restaurant so whenever you go and do that, other guests come in but wait extra long because they are still trying to clear that order so everyone else gets pushed back. Sorry!… Friendly staff and chef. You can see the sushi getting prepared. Worth every penny.
Just wow. Who would have known this was hiding in an unassuming location in Derby. The staff were so friendly and polite. Very knowledgeable and helpful in recommendations. Such high quality fish.
