Terrific haddock & chips & mushy peas. With loads of scraps on the top . Best we've tasted in ages . Very good price as well . Lovely ladies who served us . Cannot pick any faults. A must visit . Do not go anywhere else . Thanks ladies . Top stuff. My wife said it made her valentine's day that more special. Food: 5/5
Visited yesterday and was not disappointed. The haddock was so nice and the batter was so light and crispy just how it should be and scraps as well. We live in Coventry so when we go up North we love to try the local chippy and this one didn't disappoint. Will definitely return when in the area again.
Have rocked up here a handful of times over the last 30 years when visiting Skipton but just never arrived when the place was open. Last night I hit it lucky – the lass frying the fish said she had just one fish left! – and I enjoyed the best fish n chips I’ve tasted for donkey’s years.Haddock not cod, just as it should be, and freshly cooked to order. Lovely, crisp, sugary batter on succulent, light, meaty fish; nicely cooked chips. Good helping too, and washed down with a can of Dandelion and Burdock. Very cleanly kept chippy, and friendly staff, so good banter, and the fella who came in after me looking for three rounds of fish n chips struck gold, as Mdme Fryer relented and fried him three special haddocks as if they were regular portions – reminded me of the traditional chippy on George St in Hipperholme, which was my regular as a kid, which always managed to fish up more than anyone ever asked for and which will always be the best chippy ever, in its 1970s heyday. Take that comparison as the highest praise I can offer! Thank you.
Proper tasty chippy, haddock n chips top drawer. Very friendly service. One of the best we've tasted
Good portion of fish and chips at a reasonable price that were delicious!Food: 5/5
Delicious fish and chips. Some of the best I've ever had. The fish was perfectly cooked, tender inside with a light crisp batter. The homemade tartare sauce was creamy and tasty. The service was great, very welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be back.
Excellent fish Nd chips. Light, crispy batter. Great chips. Delicious home-made tartar sauce. And they use cardboard boxes, not polystyrene, with a divider. Chips one side, fish the other so it doesn't get soggy. Best in Skipton.
Best fish and chips I've had for a long time. Massive fish, cooked to perfection and tons of chips. I tend to get fish & half chips as shown in the photo.
The fish was nicely cooked. The chips and mushy peas were also nice. The service wasn’t great however. The lady didn’t listen to what I asked for in relation to salt & vinegar & didn’t apologise for getting it wrong. This meant the meal wasn’t that great. I also asked for scraps and never received any. Newmarket Street fisheries next time. They always get it right.
Wonderful fish, scampi and chips - the very bestRecommended dishesFish and Chips
