A peaceful quiet place full of history on the main shopping street in Canterbury. Don't miss the facinating wooden structured roof in the upper chapel. Well worth a visit.
Great place to visit while in Canterbury
I visited this after visiting Canterbury Cathedral and enjoyed it. There's lots of history to learn about the place. In one of the lower rooms you can actually see the boats going under building on the canal.
Wonderful place with a rich history. Absolutely worth it to take a look inside, Both for the building as for the story. I found it very special that the river runs underneath the building.
Well worth having the tour guide for this little gem. Aran was very knowledgeable and made the trip interesting. I think we would have missed all the little details without him. The building is still being used and it was lovely to see a monk at the doorway. Highly recommend and good value for money.
A rather disappointing medieval hospital maintained well by volunteers with nothing really worth seeing. No real history to be soaked up or expressed. The chapel above explains more but is a very much more modern example in comparison. Would of liked to of seen more atmosphere for my money!
Among the place to visit, once in Canterbury, there is Eastbridge Hospital. Getting in, you will be transported to 800 years ago. Volunteer guides will tell you of pilgrims, rich families and faith. They are very friendly and you can see they love what they do. The Hospital is one of the most important place in Canterbury. If you have done the Camino de Santiago and you have been a pilgrim, you should visit this place. On the other hand, if you haven't, visiting the Hospital may be the start of that other adventure!
Interesting attraction just off the main high street. Very interesting story behind it, would recommend getting a dual ticket for the gardens next door
