Great town. Plenty of shopping. There are a number of theatres as well as a cinema. Great pier and seaside things to do. Eating out is a cinch ...especially near the cinema
Lovely south coast terminus station. Much quieter than Brighton and smaller, a few anti-socials here and there but well staffed and plenty of facilities. Two trains per hour to London Victoria via Lewes, two trains per hour to Brighton via Lewes. In the other direction is Bexhill, Hastings and the 1066 coast
We have enjoyed a very relaxed couple of days here by the sea.
I had a valid railcard and train tickets. I inquired as to my train to be told that one would be leaving in eight minutes but I was not allowed on as I was early by some twenty minutes. My overall journey time was 4 hours and 30 minutes, any time gained would have made for a better journey, but instead the train was allowed to leave almost empty. Amazing how one jobs worth can spoil your whole day. So sorry Eastbourne poor customer service and a poor attitude.
Eastbourne station is centrally located. It is a few minutes walk from the Beacon shopping mall and a 10 - 15 minute walk to the hotels on the seafront. There are also cabs available from the station.
