If you have a two year course, they WILL move it to another collage halfway through the course and to a collage that you will almost certainly will not be able to attend,nnThe collages managerial staff often poorly communicates these updates to there courses to there students, which often leads to occasions where students will only find out about there course being moved on the last day of term, which in many cases leads to students to waste an entire year of term time without receiving anything significant in return, which, combined with the fact that many students will likely only be able to afford to go collage for three or four terms as collage stops being paid for by the government when an individual turns 19 years old significantly impacts there future life prospects as it presents them from recieving a degree that could up there chances of getting a job.
I am very disappointed with the lack of support provided for students with dyslexia. The policies in place don’t seem to offer meaningful help, which is frustrating for those who need additional resources to succeed. Additionally, the Level 2 Beauty course is surprisingly intense, with requirements that seem more suited for advanced fields like physiotherapy. It would benefit students if the course content and expectations were more realistic and if the college made greater efforts to provide inclusive support for all learners.
The worst college in existence. The health and social care course is terrible, especially with the manager Hayley and one of the teachers rhian both of those teachers are appalling, both of them mocked my autism in front of my whole class, lucky lock down came so I left and never looked back. If you have a disability I wouldn’t apply for that course, it’s truly not worth it.
Terrible experience! Lack of professionalism by all In charge of the access to nursing! Never anyone to speak to. They Changed course location to Eastbourne via letter no explanation, after all that have sorted their funding and childcare for lewes in sept. No one contacts you back. Very unpredictable, I wouldn't take your chances as a mature student!
I spent 3 years at then Sussex downs college in Lewes. It’s a great location right next to the railway station to very easy to get to if the weather is bad or the train is late. I started studying uniformed public services as I really wanted to go into the Royal Navy - I passed the btec first diploma just about I was lucky they didn’t throw me out for skipping lessons and not doing homework then I changed my entire course and did a btec national diploma in travel and tourism which is throughly enjoyed. I had amazing tutors on the course and one in particular inspired me in the first year of the btec national saying my assignment was so good if I continued to work at that level I could go onto university. I’d honestly never even considered university I’m dyslexic and life has been a struggle for me since I was small so this gave me the push I needed to knuckle down. I got the grades I needed and I accepted my place at bath spa university - I went onto study tourism management and because of the excellent tutors I had at college I really thrived at university. I graduated in 2011 with a degree to be proud of. I’m not sure what I would have done if those tutors hadn’t given me a chance to knuckle down change course and turn it around - it meant an extra year at college which was frustrating but that’s because I messed up my GCSEs at school I was lucky to get into college at all. It was certainly the right college for me and the special educational needs support is fantastic here.
