Advance tickets could be changed for free in the past. Now, to squeeze even more money out of consumers, they charge a £10 admin fee even when the changes are made online or via their app both of which are very glitchy.
Can't think of one reason why the air conditioning has to be full on cold when it's 17 degrees Celsius outside. Everybody had their hoodies on and zipped up jackets. I have a headache and had to buy a cup of coffee when getting off to warm up. It's ridiculous and also a health hazard
I arrived to my rickety wagon with elation, for it was only delayed for twenty minutes this time! Alas I had to summon all my strength to move between carriages, for two separate doors were broken from one side, occasionally stopping to rescue a forlorn passenger. Despite paying five times as much as any other country on the continent, I had to sit on the floor despite being very ill because the reservation system was, shockingly, also broken. The service still sells more seats than it does tickets. Alas, covid has once and for all proven that the service actually can easily stop this whenever they want, but they simply choose not to. I assume this is in order to ensure staff are paid their princely sum of a real terms pay cut year on year since before I was born. Perhaps this is why I couldn't see a single member of staff in sight, as they have all left to pursue better endeavours such as therapy.
I would never travel on their trains again, at least with not having a tetanus jab first . EMR really should get an award for the dirtiest trains
Myself & a friend travelled from Derby to Matlock Bath on Frday 13th May. The staff on the train could not have been more helpful, personable and customer friendly. It was such a refreshing experience to receive service with smile The staff that were platform side were equally as helpful.
Phone lines are always busy and unable to reach for refund. One fine day you managed to catch someone you will be told, the window period for refunds are over. Their phone lines being busy becoms your fault
My train was cancelled between Ely and Manchester, so ended up arriving an hour and half late, which made the entire journey a waste of eight hours. I wan entitled to full compensation under their delay repay scheme, my initial request was automatically refused, and the manual review of my appeal was also refused. They essentially robbed me of sixty pounds and a full day of my life.
Poor train service, cancellations with no explanation given. Bad communication at all levels.
Sheffield to Derby 23d April - grubby and ancient carriages. 5 carriages instead of 10. Crackly and indecipherable tannoy announcements. You have to feel sorry for the people who work here. The franchise needs to be removed from the Dutch company running this service and returned to the public sector.
