Sad to see how badly this market has gone downhill over the years. Barely any stalls anymore which is reflected in the small amount of people turning up. Maybe time to consider changing the frequency to once a month or once a fortnight as this may attract more traders and customers!
You have to visit this market at least once a year! Obviously much busier in the summer months. Much quieter in the colder months but still goes. Consistent market traders, with some car boot/ vintage / collector folk in a separate section. There's more stuff in the market than what I mention here, so I apologise for missing stuff out that's irrelevant to me. I find it useful for: Butchers van and sometimes other local butchers/farmers. Ridiculously cheap compared to supermarket prices. Especially good for restauranteurs, etc. Greengrocers. Usually local stuff featured in there too. Hardware. Nails, ironmongery, bolts, door latches, etc, etc. Screwfix prices or less, and always good quality. Unusual locally made sweeties. E-ciggy stuff. Big range of more unusual stuff I haven't seen elsewhere. Kitchen stuff. Industrial workwear. Clothing. Bed linen. And also towels and things. Books and DVDs. Hundreds of them. Cheapy kids toys. There's usually, but not always, a Lego collection guy there in the summer. The market has loos. Not the most glamorous of loos but clean enough, with water and paper, etc, and easy access. Burger van type food. Not the healthiest of stuff but cheaply priced. Hot donuts should be a mandatory purchase for everyone. And more than enough parking. Best time to go is between 9.30 and 12.
The market these days is a shadow of its former self. High stall rental, no shelter on most stalls, poor road in, no signs anywhere, no money put into it, means 6 stalls at most these days.
My god its gone downhill, mabey making the stalls free for a while would be a good idea . Theres 3 times the stalls at graigpark park and ride last sunday of each month
Nice market when the weathers nice as more sellers turn up. Can be hit or miss, as sometimes theres hardly anyone there. Used to be amazing years ago. Alot quieter nowadays
Unfortunately not many traders or car boot sellers on a gorgeous day. Believe the cost to trade had been increased recently which is putting people off selling here which is a shame.
Don't waste your time going this is definatly permanently closed says open on Google drive all the way there and nothing afterwards I looked and seen reviews on trip advisor from February saying the same thing.
Hardly any stalls I walked round and heading home 48 miles after 15 minutes. Very poor the worst I've seen in 8 years
Love this market. Fresh fish,, meat and veg at bargain prices - a good mix plus cat boot stalks too
Used to be slot better , there's alot of Asians selling all sorts of stuff cheap Chinese
