This transport museum gives a real step back in time with trams, trolley buses and period buildings with old cars and faux shops with products from yesteryear. Steam rollers, electric milk floats and some commercial vehicles also feature.nYou can ride on their trams, two are in service daily and the vehicles are rotated every day. A trolley bus is in service too plus they have a little train as well.nEvery member of staff from the bottom to the top is a volunteer and I found them to be friendly and helpful.nSpace is limited so the tram track is not very long but there is no limit to the amount of rides you can take.nFor a small museum they have a lot of trams and trolley buses and are looking to expand the site having recently purchased a further five acres of land.nThere is a very reasonably priced cafe serving drinks and light snacks. Their £2 portion of chunky chips was a winner for me.nThere are toilet facilities on site.nParking is free.nA really lovely place to spend a few hours and step back in time
Fabulous day out at such an interesting and entertaining venue. Staffed completely by volunteers, all super friendly, extremely helpful and ready to chat about the vehicles and exhibits. The rides on the trolly buses, the tram, the diesel train really are a step back in time, each vehicle beautifully restored. Hours of painstaking, detailed work. We had a wonderful afternoon. And had some of the yummiest chips in the tea room x
Visited for the Blackpool Weekend and it was incredible, really was impressed by everything on offer. The free park and ride was very convenient, entry tickets represented good value for money and the staff were both knowledgeable and passionate. The cafe was superb and well priced; the chips are worth a special mention by the way! The range of exhibits available was very good; everything from motorbikes to milk floats, caravans and taxis plus buses, a train, trams and even traction engines. Something for everyone basically. Of course, the Blackpool Trams were the stars of the show and we will be back to see how the future expansion and development plans work out.
Lovely afternoon out, plenty to see and a few vehicles to ride on.nVery easy to get to and just a couple of miles from Lowestoft Town Centre.nNo need to book online just pay ar the gate and use your ticket for each of the available rides.
Excellent place for a few hours. The museum isn't that big but we visited during a special event where more seemed to be going on.nnWe had tram/trolleybus and train rides, which don't go far but you can see the work that the volunteers have put into restoring these vehicles the tram was nearly 160 years old.nnI found the shop to be really interesting, not the usual generic stuff you find in nearly every gift store these days.nnIf you like buses/trams etc you'll enjoy it, if you're looking for loads of interactive experiences it probably isn't for you.
