I remember the market in the early 50s when my mother used to take me with her shopping on Friday mornings. 'Lions' fresh fish, a butchery, shoes, rolls of mateirial, sweets, toys, bread, cakes, pies, hardware, to name but a few of the stalls. We lived at 107, Queens Drive at the time and we walked the 1 mile there and then back with full bags of shopping. We didn't yet have a bus service at the time. I am now 79 years of age with lots of very fond memories of Earlestown and it's people.nWayne L Cross.
Best place on earth, the Christmas lights switch on is always a phenomenon to behold, the market is second to none, all the pubs and clubs are full of beautiful warm and friendly people. It is a privilege to call it my home. Come and give us a visit, you won't be disappointed
Big market on Fridays also have a flee market on Saturdays flee market is like a big car boot lots of diffrent stuff clothes. shoes household . well worth going flee market starts packing up around noon so get there early there is public bathrooms also on the square were the markets are held and if your hungry there are plenty of cafe's to get a bite to eat earlstown is a historical town dates back to Roman times I grew up there. so two great markets day apart .enjoy
I haven't visited here for at least five years when it was then bustling with crowds of people and many sellers. The day was bright and clear yet raining for most of the night wether this had put people/sellers off I'm unsure of. Any how there's some great quirky items with sellers up for a deal..mostly second or even third hand goods could even say antiques ..collectables and brick a brack. Some stalls have new goods...the town has some shops to walk round but the cafe on the corner 'crumpets' I think is probably one of the best English breakfast cafe food in the world!!! In my opinion so try it out when visiting earls town..all in all a good morning out.
