As soon as we walked into the bar we were made to feel exceptionally welcome, with patrons chatting to us and the landlord "warning" us there was a band in that evening. That was actually the reason we were staying there! A lovely barmaid showed us to our room which was tastefully decorated and had a fridge, hairdryer and led onto a large en suite bathroom which had small bottles of shampoo etc. There was a towel in the landing to dry off any dogs that might have been staying which was a lovely touch. It is an old building so you could hear distant chatter from the bar below but it wasn't a problem for us at all. We went down and ordered dinner which was absolutely amazing. We had the medium veggie pizza, cheesy chips and garlic bread between us and just couldn’t finish it all. Their portions are enormous ... you've been warned! All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. There was a choice of Rattler cyder on tap and Cornish Tarquin gins as well as Korev Cornish lager. The band The Claze played out in the back courtyard which was under cover and had lots of seating, heaters and lighting. It was a great atmosphere and was the perfect setting for a gig in any weather. We preordered 2 veggie breakfasts and when we came downstairs in the morning we were delighted to see they had BT Sports on and were showing the MotoGP racing. Breakfast was again enormous and delicious and the landlord and landlady were chatty and attentive. I would thoroughly recommend this lovely pub and we will definitely be back. The room was very reasonably priced and so was the food, especially when taking into account the more than generous portions. Thank you to everyone for a truly enjoyable stay.
Excellent Sunday roast. Great traditional pub with a first class beer garden. Excellent range of beer and ales. Will certainly be returning. Addendum We have returned now on more than a few occasions and my original experiences hold true. Great food and lovely landlady
Honestly the nicest and kindest staff you will ever meet. Great atmosphere with live music in the beer garden outside. Really accommodating staff we arrived late and ordered breakfast late and they still sorted out everything for us! and location is beautiful - make sure to have a swim in the nearby river 5mins down the road.Rooms: 5/5
Quite literally the kindest pub I’ve ever been to. We came to the Earl of Chatham at the end of our first gruelling day cycling from Lands End to John O groats. The staff were so incredibly hospitable - they showed us to our rooms, made sure that we were able to order food before last orders and made a contribution to our charity! Never experienced such amazing hospitality anywhere in the world - wish we could have stayed longer!
Attractive, friendly pub with a good outside area, live sport and music on quite often. Don't know about it accommodation wise but it's usually one of the cheaper local options. I suppose because it's not a free house it's a bit pricier than the globe in town but still worth coming to.
Nice quiet and cosy place during the week.I don't know how is during the week-ends .The car park is in the back of it and quite tricky to get to it due to narrow streets and steep ups and downs. If you have an automatic car with the manual drive option, use the manual option . Room that we had served its purpose and it was bright and clean .For my family it was perfect. We plan another trip next year to the same location. No pictures of the location this time. Tbh I wasn't expecting this feedback from Google Maps and this is nice.
Called in on Saturday after a long drive and was made very welcome. Went back on the evening were as part of Lostwithiel Carnival they had a hog roast and live music. A bit crowded and noisy, but very enjoyable.
Jessie and her family went above and beyond to make us feel at home and welcome. Bar is lovely, the room is big and comfortable. Nothing was too much hassle. Thank you again for a lovely stay. We will be back for definiteRooms: 5/5

Away from the main streets of Lostwithiel, this was a very quiet pub on the Thursday we visited. Good beer, Friendly service and clean and tidy. We will certainly return.Service: 5/5
