Wish i could leave Zero stars but it wont allow me. I signed up for a 12 month contract at £38 per month which allowed me to use all branches. I only ever used the Sunderland branch so decided to reduce my package to Home Club only. I was 5 months in and asked to reduce the package and i was told i could not till I had been a member for 6 months. When the 6 month anniversary arrived i called in and asked to reduce and i was told i could not as this had now stopped. After a bit of resistance, Sunderland allowed me to do this and asked me to sign a new direct debit form so they could collect my new premium. I am now 16 months into my contract and decided to cancel as i can no longer go due to changing place of work. I have now been told that i signed up to a new 12 month contract which was not explained to me at the time. Very Unhappy. My wife has now cancelled her membership in protest and joined a different gym. BEWARE
No idea why this gym has such poor reviews I joined at the beginning of the year and absolutely love it. I go almost every day to use the gym, pool, steam room and jacuzzi and Ifeel completely pampered and relaxed when I leave. The staff are absolutely lovely very helpful and attentive. There are some minor things I would change...im not keen on the smell of the cleaning products they use in the ladies showers and would prefer not to have kids swimming lessons held there...otherwise its great value for money..does NHS discount and is open early till late...whats not to like?!
Couldn't actually use equipment due to people using them as meeting places, including the staff. Toilets routinely had no paper, hair clogging showers, classes predominantly during the day and evening classes filled within the first hour that yo could book. Pool area routinely closed an hour or so before closing and the whirlpool was off more than on. Could go on but chose to cancel my membership instead.
I have tried numerous gyms across north east and this is by far the best .i have been member for five years and cant fault this fitness club .it has a wide range of machines and a excellent free weight section which is kept clean and tidy at all times and the whole club is maintained to a very high standard. The staff are very friendly and approachable with a dedicated attitude towards customer care .there is a wide range of classes available at convenient times to help you achieve your goals .the pool is always immaculate and steam room is available to relax .looking forward to the imminent refit where the whole club will be improved further.
I pay £32 a month for a gym that nothing works in the pool is always freezing and the hot tub is hardly ever working and now the showers ain't working. So what does the management actually do cause they don't tell you as you walk in. Definitely cancelling my membership
More than 8 months Im member of this gym and once a month going with my children. As before I went with my children as my guest but they said our policy is changed for Fridays and you have to pay £6 for each when I asked why didn't send an email for changing your policy they said sorry about it..I am so sorry to say it is a big trick..when I went with my children wearing swimming wear can I come back or I have to pay...really sorry for them..such a shame..
Reasonable gym, however nothing special for £32 a month therefore I decided not to join following a 3 day trial. Limited machinery, drastically worse than JD GYMS where I have just had to leave due to moving place of work. Since the trial ended I have been harassed daily by DW by texts, emails and phone calls. If this is the way they harass you trying to get you in I can only imagine the pain of trying to get out. AVOID
I tried this gym on Saturday as I was in the Sunderland area and had a couple of hours to spare I normally use the North Shields or Byker ones. I was in two minds because when I was at the Byker gym a member of the Sunderland gym told me that it was the worst one in the North East. I'm so glad I went, I think the Sunderland gym is one of the best ones in the North East, it had great equipment, and the spa area is good too. The steam room is a little on the small side but the jacuzzi is the best one I've been in. I will definitely be going back here when I'm in Sunderland.
Where do I start? Ok so machines get broke and take over a month to fix sometimes much longer than a month which I think is an absolute joke, sometimes multiple machines are broke and months down the line still not fixed! Theirs a mirror in the gym which has been smashed for nearly 6 months and it's being kept together with black and yellow tape?! Theirs also a group of mirrors in the swimming area which span across the full one side of the swimming pool and guess what they kept up with duck tape! This would be very dangerous for anyone who is swimming or walking around bare foot, if one of them mirrors come loose or the tape gives way the glass will fall and smash on the walk way and in the pool, many children swim here too so it's just a bad idea to use duck tape to keep mirrors on walls! The cafe advertising fresh food, let me tell you the food ain't fresh at all maybe the bread and milk but everything else is frozen or in packets! I signed a contract paying £25 a month and they have put the price up to £29 a month without even telling me! No email no letter no signs in the gym nothing, they just take money without even asking if I'm willing to pay the extra £4 or not! Many items have been pinched from people in here, they will pinch your old training gloves if you turn your back. Today I've had a dorma towel pinched from the hooks in the passage way next to the pool, dw say it's my own fault for leaving it there and that I should keep it in my locker when I'm swimming. Here's the problem theirs a sign walking from the shower room into the locker room saying "please towel dry before entering changing rooms" please tell me how we are meant to keep our towels in the lockers when we not allowed to walk in there wet and how it is our own fault if our towels go missing from the passageway. The shower room has 4 showers broke and one full side of the shower room has yellow and black tape keeping you from cutting your feet on the 6 broken tiles which will take months to fix, that shower room should basically be shut down until all the tiles and showers are fixed, if anyone slips and lands on them broken tiles they will be ripped to shreds! This list of problems seems to be endless and i could go on all day about all the little problems but tbh just do yourself a favour and join a different gym.
Have no idea why this gym has so many bad reviews, joined a couple of months ago and the staff could not have been friendlier. Taking time out of their day to help me with machines and book into classes. Great gym
