After my brother died several years ago I needed ID for a building society he had money in. I don't have a passport but do have a driving licence. However, at the time, it was a paper licence. It took 4 months and 3 attempts to get a card licence, 2 of them due to the incompetence of the DVLA. I turned 73 last October and filled in the form for renewal but couldn't send my card licence as I couldn't find it. Then there was a hold-up due to my Diabetes, was told only a problem if 1, I have 2. I have since found my licence and returned it, with a letter, 4 months ago. Not having heard anything, I wrote to the DVLA 2 weeks ago. I am still waiting for my new licence. At this rate I will be renewing it again at age 76. I would phone yourselves at Swansea but can't find a contact number.
I have requested a provisional licence as a form of id about 3-4 months ago and still haven't seen or heard anything, on the post tracker it says its been delivered and signed but its been too long it was meant to be 2-4 weeks not 3-4 months, i need a job to support my family but cant do anything without a id
A totally useless government dept .dont respond to e mails letters sat on phone for two hours listening to gastly music gave up a complaint via my mp can get resultsnDVLA is a prime example of the sad state this country is in run by a totally useless government
Application for renewal of my licence sent off on 23rd August 2021 as it expired in October 2021.nMonths pass with no response.nThen a letter requesting medical information is received and duly acted upon.nMedical practitioner agrees that all is well and that there is no obstacle to prevent me from driving.nMonths pass and still no response from DVLA.nThis must be the most inefficient Government Department in the UK.nSurely applications should be able to be dealt with within a reasonable time.
Absolutely disgusting service. Send log book off four times now, each time it gets sent back with a new excuse. All I want to do is change taxation class.. I send all information off and each time they loose something. IS THIS SO HARD. Utter incompetence
