Drogheda station is situated on the south bank of the river Boyne in Drogheda. Its beside the main road to Dublin and is about 10 minutes from Scotch hall shopping centre.Services are every 30 during rush hour.Every hour outside of rush hour and every 2 hours on a Sunday. Also Enterprise services from Belfast stop here cutting the journey times to Dublin by 33%.There are three platforms 1 for through services 1 for terminating trains from Dublin and an extra one. There are no information screens in this alike other stations along the route. But this is substituted by friendly staff in the booking hall. In 1847 the D&DR opened the line from Amines street it was the terminus. In 1857 the line was extended in phases to Belfast. In the late 19th century the D&DR was taken over by the GNR and the station was remodelled to look like a standard GNR station. In a similar time period the branch to Navan and Oldcastle was built allowing connections in Navan to MGWR services to Kingscourt and Clonsilla. From now on Drogheda station was not touched until the early 2000's when it was majorly upgraded to give what we have today. Also the commuter rail depot was built around then also.
