We stayed in one of the Hobbits for a night. It was perfect for our family of four. The hobbit was warm and comfortable and we had a beautiful view of the sun setting and the starry sky at night. We also did the Cow and Coast tour which the kids and adults loved. Carole and Matthew were brilliant hosts, and helped make our stay memorable. We would definitely recommend Down on the Farm to anybody looking for somewhere a bit different to stay.
Two lovely nights in Hideaways One and Two. The location is stunning, with beautiful, uninterrupted views. It's so peaceful! Each Hideaway was very clean, and had everything we needed. It was great to sit out at night, around the fire, looking at the stars. Carole and Matthew are lovely hosts, and gave helpful suggestions for places to visit locally. We're looking forward to returning next year.
Really amazing place. Peaceful and quiet. Great for star gazing. Had the best time away, the host's were lovely nothing was too much. Had a tour around the farm and got to hold a lamb. Definitely would recommend and will be going back.Rooms: 5/5
While on vacation in Scotland, I really wanted to pet a lamb. We reached out to Down on the Farm after finding them on Facebook. Carole set up time for us to meet with Isobel, her daughter who has a flock of sheep and lamb. Isobel taught us so much about her sheep and let me help feed one of them. Isobel cares so much for her animals, it was lovely to see and learn from her. Matthew, let us see the cows and calves that had recently been born and Thomas brought out his ferret for me to hold. Our overall experience was wonderful and we highly recommend visiting this farm. Next time we visit Scotland, we would love to stay in their Glamping pods.
This was my second time visiting but the first time with kids. We had a fabulous time even though the weather wasn't the best at least it stayed dry. Carole is a lovely host and pretty much left us to our own devices after checking to see if we had everything we needed. In our group there were 3 adults and 2 kids and we spent the whole time laughing, playing games, sitting round the fire and exploring the area. We went down to New Aberdour Beach to visit the caves and we went to the Lighthouse Museum in Fraserburgh. Great location to get away from it all and we will definitely be back. Thanks Again :
It was our first time to try glamping in Scotland which was a 10-minute drive from our home in Fraserburgh. The pods were stunning and surprisingly spacious for the four of us. It got all our needs. Plates, cutlery, cups, microwave, electric kettle and some cook ware. We had an amazing time as we had supper in the fire pit and had smores afterwards. It was a quiet secluded safe place. In the morning they had us in their farm, had a bit of tour and learned a lot about cow farming. I will definitely come back to stay at least 2 nights in their pod. Such an amazing host Carole and Matthew. This is a must try activity when visiting the Fraserburgh area
It's always an amazing time staying at Down on the Farm. Breathtaking view, bonfire and cozy pod. They also had the cutest loo which I've never seen elsewhere. One of our favourite relaxing getaways. Carole and Matt together with their kids are very welcoming, making sure that the stay is comfortable. Carole is just a message away if you need anything. They even introduced us to their lambs. Such a wonderful experience! Nearby activities: They have a very beautiful farm with cows, sheep and peacocks. It is also located near mounthooly doocot and if you want, you can trek along the coast to see the amazing waters closely.
We had a lovely night at the high seas Hobbits. Made a camp fire and cooked some steaks under the stars. Carole the hostess was very welcoming and provided exactly the right amount of information and assistance. The Hobbit wooden hut in a laid down cylinder shape itself was warm and comfortable. The scenery is ruggedly beautiful, but definitely bring a scarf in winter. Will look forward to going along again some day.
We had been planning on a get away but 'life' just always seems to get in the way. We finally got round to organising a mini break at Down on The Farm. The Coastal Carriage was perfect with nothing but where to go next to worry about. Other than water supply from the farm well the carriage is off grid - it also stands alone in a filed overlooking the coast, plenty of privacy. However some nifty solar lights and a wood burning stove made it an ideal base to explore the Moray coast. You should at least try the bush shower once and the compost toilet an experience to be hold Too many bays, hidden villages, tea rooms and coastal walks to mention. With a pair of sturdy shoes and belly full of Carrot Cake and you can take in the stunning views with very little effort on various paths. Even for our short visit we were able to unravel, relax and enjoy the carriage and everything that the area has to offer. Special note to our host Carol, the hospitality of local eateries Special mention to Findlay's fish bar and the Captains Table in Fraserburgh, the scenery and the welcome we received where ever we went. Definitely be back as soon as we can! Highly recommended.
Stayed in the converted vintage railway carriage and it was amazing - views to die for and the most comfortable and unique accommodation ever - who new having a shower could be so much fun. Everything you need for a wonderful peaceful break with lovely walks close at hand. Carole and Matthew were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed it so much we stayed for an extra night. Will be back for sure - thank you for a great break
