The room was small but fresh and good standard. The only downside was that it was really, really hot. On average 24 C despite the AC being on the coldest. When we got to our room it was even hotter and we called the front desk, who let us know there was a general fault with the ACs. Fifteen or so minutes later a guy came to our room and fidgeted with the AC, and it started. But it never got below 22 C which is very hot to sleep in. We even took out the duvet and slept in just the sheet.nnWe had breakfast included and it was great with London standards.nnLocation is great with walking distance to two underground stations, and bus stops. Is just across the street from Hyde Park.nnDespite the room being extremely hot, it was overall great.
I book this hotel for a group booking that was coming into London on business. From the start the staff was very helpful when booking the room block and working with us for our group. During the actual stay I found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable.nnI did not catch their names but the 2 males and 1 lady who worked the first desk were the ones I interacted with the most during our time there and they were really patient.nnThe rooms were spacious and I found the location of the hotel to be nice. It was in walking distance of a few shops and restaurants and of course Hyde Park. Having the hop on hop off bus stop right in front of the hotel was a plus as that was one of our main activities.nnI would recommend this hotel to my travel clients anytime.
Writing this to warn others, as I literally have an open case against this hotel with Hilton for how awful it was. The location is great and the staff is nice, but I cannot reiterate how insufferable our stay was. Upon check in we had hairs littering the corners of the floor I threw a literal hair ball in the trash, one bath towel for 2 people on a 3 day stay, half a roll of toilet paper, and one hand towel. Not to mention the room was BOILING hot - perhaps 78 degrees or more. We turned down the AC and went to bed as we got in late, however, we woke up to the room still stifling. I’m taking sweating as I’m putting on my clothes for the day. After waking up we called down for more toilet paper and towels so we could shower and use the bathroom. We had to call down 3 times in the span of almost 2 hours as no one came up. I ended up taking some toilet paper from the lobby bathroom. We also inquired about the heat/AC to which we were finally told the AC is broken? Wondering why this wasn’t communicated at check in, as I would have gladly opted for the more expensive Hilton Hyde Park up the street if it meant we didn’t have to sweat to death and barely sleep each night of our stay. Also wondering why there was no attempt to have this promptly fixed, as each time we’d return to our floor every night it was beyond hot and humid. This is a long review but I also want to give honorable mention to the shower that sprays water all over the bathroom and has a tub so high you almost break your neck slipping as you steep out of it. Our current Garden Inn at the airport is incredibly nicer, which is laughable. Skip this hotel for the “real” Hilton up the road or another location altogether.
On a positive note the hotel location is amazing - just a few minutes from 3 tube stations. We were very busy so only slept there. The staff were polite and effective.nnOn the downside we were out an entire day and when we came back though our bed was made - no rubbish was cleared from the room. Not one thing. Towels and toilet paper not replaced/replenished.nnWhen we asked at reception we were told that the policy of the hotel is that unless we specifically ask to have the room cleaned only the bed is made. This seems like a very odd policy for any hotel let alone a Hilton. At check in we were also not informed of this. On the last day the elevators were slow and delayed due to construction work going on somewhere in the hotel and was in constant use by workers with equipment.
My Partner and I visited London on holiday, our first holiday since the pandemic due to our workloads. We enjoyed our time in London as the city had lots of attractions but we were let down by our hotel. Hence we decide to reward this hotel with only two stars. Firstly upon arriving, we were to be given a ground-floor room, which we declined as there would have been heavy foot traffic that would likely wake us up. Also, it did not make any logical sense as we booked a couple of weeks in advance and we were a young couple, so had no problem with stairs. I suspect it is due to the area we come from being a less affluent one, so there may have been a desire to have us close to reception in case we would cause any trouble. However, we are respectable members of the community and frankly too tired from work to have any desire to cause trouble. Then the room we were moved to was right by the lifts on the first floor and was continually noisy, I know this cannot be helped sometimes. The room was well-furnished, but cold, we informed reception about this and they indicated that there's probably a loose-wired within the thermostat and that they would log a job. That is understandable as it is an inconvenience to move rooms and was probably the right call to make. However, on one of the mornings, the fire alarm went off, so we left our room and headed outside, where I could smell a faint smell of smoke, but lots of staff were just standing around. This was concerning as we as guess didn't have any communication on what was happening, which is a safety fault equally, there was always rubbish left out in the door across the corridor, and I would leave for dinner. Sometimes taking two to three hours and the rubbish would still be there, this is a fire risk and had you had a safety audit that would have been a fault. A couple of times we had towels taken from the room and no towels replaced, so I had to ask for towels. Then to top it all off I had a confirmation email detailing the amount of the stay and a final invoice and there was a discrepancy of £150 more in the final invoice, which I addressed to the reception only to have them want to charge me more money as they believed that I only paid for three nights when I paid for five. The location is great however, the negatives outweigh the positives, unfortunately.
