Absolutely perfect battered cod and chips, honestly really tasty. Saveloy was on point and the curry sauce was incredible. Restaurant is clean and tidy and situated right next to the harbour. If down in Ilfracombe come and try this, you won't be disappointed, staff were also very friendly.
Popped in for a coffee today, but ended up getting fish and chips as well. Batter was really light and tasty. Staff were very attentive and looked after us whilst we were there. I can imagine it being very busy in the summer.
I rarely bother to review places but as the tag line of this shop says "a fish and chips you'll never forget" and they're right, I can't get it out of my head. Waited for quite a while to get our food which I would be fine with had it been worth the wait. Charged £1.00 for a gherkin pictured which was so disappointing, I'm very aware it's not all about the size but seriously....also paid £2.80 for a pitiful amount of chips that were overcooked. Chips litterly cost pennies so being stingy with then is just cruel. Oh and an overcooked, dry battered sausage. Would suggest going litterly ANYWHERE else.
Good food, ok service, but got stung on paying! Had fish with salad, instead of chips and peas, and on paying told I had to pay full price for the meal, including the chips and peas that were not served, plus the price of the salad
Absolutely love The Dolphin! Been there many times each year! Every time we come to Ilfracombe, in fact! Food is consistently 10/10. Service is 10/10. Whole thing is fab! Dog friendly, they take bookings and cannot fault the place, highly recommend. Takeaway as well!
The food was nice, but three stars was given as parts of the complete order didn't arrive and the staff member that served us didn't understand the menu and tried charging extra for parts of the meal. FYI, A glass of Pepsi maxi was £2.30 for less then half a pint the drink was a can of coke zero.
Just had fish and chips in the Dolphin and it was the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. The chips were perfectly cooked and the cod was white with just the right amount of batter not too thick. I also had curry sauce which tasted great not powdery like most fish shops. We even had a pudding which was massive I can reccomed the sticky toffee pudding. Will be back.
Lovely chippy on the harbour with lovely views. Nice fresh fish, decent portion. Enjoyable meal, friendly staff- social distancing adhered to. Reasonably priced when considering the location.
Staff working hard to cater for the very busy restaurant so welldone to them. The food itself is letting the place down. I had the Seafood Delight which had raw cod chunks on the plate. The fish and chips also had a very small portion of cooked fish. Overall wasnt impressed with the place and won’t go back, ideally places to get tourists though so will always do well.
Lovely fish and chip shop. Take away and eat in. They cater for gluten free ,which is essential for my wife. We went just after the lockdown lifted for restaurant's and the staff were on the ball with all the new procedures. Sanitised tables and chairs between customers which was good to see. The food was lovely.
