visited today with my sister , we are not local we travelled to your store for a meet up. Every member of staff we came across were helpful and friendly. we had breakfast in the cafe, the food tasted really good and service excellent.. well done Dobbies Gailey. Would definitely visit again highly recommend.
I went to the cafe here a few weeks ago just to stop for a coffee. I was shocked to see wasps crawling all over the cream cakes. The cakes were under a large glass counter but not under glass domes so they were not protected. I had to ask for those cakes to be removed from sale. The cafe attendant said they’re not allowed smaller domes for cakes. Surely this is a hygiene issue? I’m not sure I’d buy food in there. I always feel uncomfortable in that cafe. It has a very spartan feel to it somehow but I would now worry about cleanliness if I visited again.
Second visit to buy an orchid. No issues with this visit, but I remember the last time we visited when the café was overflowing with leftovers, uncleaned tables. Being hungry had to queue...then had to clean the table ourselves to sit down and eat...no wonder the other comments echoed my sentiment
Super garden centre with lots of choice. We went to the cafe upstairs. The staff were really pleasant & helpful especially the young chap on the till, very kind and thoughtful. The food was delicious with a super choice of mains including vegetarian oprions, cakes and sweets. Afternoon tea's are also available for that special occasion. We go quite often and are never disappointed. There's plenty of parking on site, well worth a visit.
Cafe counter service is, at best, chaotic. After standing at the time for a considerable period we managed to pay for our food - £37 for 2 x plates of lukewarm pie, one scoop of runny mash, one scoop of peas, and two cans of Coke Zero. Seems that hunting down a lady who left her cakes behind takes priority for the entire staff over actually serving the queue of customers.
Two of us popped in for a coffee . Number of tables were vacant although quite a few still had dirty crockery on them. The empty table we found had not been wiped after being emptied. The floor around the table had a fair amount of food pieces and crumbs. I appreciate that this will happen in a restaurant but it is quite off putting to customers. On a general note the all the carpet tiles in the store need replacing, everywhere you looked there were dirty marks and stains. I would say that the staff I encountered were pleasant, courteous and helpful.
Visited here today very very disappointing. Very poor selection of scones and cakes, especially as no deli or sandwiches were available. Stock not replenished. Slow service on drinks. When you had finally got served oh dear no butter, no knives and NO tables without debris or dirty crockery on. If you want customers to return employ more staff for better service
We arrived Saturday 16th November to buy some Christmas gifts. We decided to eat first as it was lunch time. We walked upstairs to be confronted with every table having dirty crocks on, the trolley you could put your dirty trays on was full as well. The food on offer was disgusting. Not well presented or inviting. I'm sure your answer to this review will be you were short of staff No excuse. It's the same at Dobbies at Donnington. You cannot blame the staff. It's the management planning. We felt sorry for the two members of staff we could see, they were rushed off their feet. What is happening to the Dobbies group in general. You need more staff. Better carparks tarmacked if possible. Very dangerous for the elderly.
Bought seeds but went up for lunch as well and wished we maybe had not. Food service was prompt quality was poor tho and the state of the seating area left a lot to be desired. Filthy tables and the carpet was covered in food bits, dirty napkins and other things. The self clear of tables a good idea but that should give staff time to keep tables and floors clean.
Went here as part of a journey on the road, was very disappointed by the experience. First of all we bought 2 ice cream scoops with the idea of having vanilla and honeycomb, however the lids of the ice cream tubs were misleading vanilla was on top of honeycomb and honeycomb was on top of strawberry so we ended up getting a refund on the vanilla scoops, since there wasn’t any. Secondly there were no lids for the “takeaway” coffees so we had to drink them quickly there. The windows at the front of the store were extremely dirty, with mud and other stuff on it as seen in the photos. The toilets were disgusting. The entire shop was in need of renovation and work done. Luckily the staff were very friendly and willing to help.
