First visit this year. Met friends for a coffee & cake before shopping. Although a good selection of cakes, tray bakes, and scones, most were obviously stale - especially the fruit flans which were beginning to collapse. The staff too appear to be a bit fed up with the situation. What used to be a thriving restaurant has gone downhill so much it is in great danger of sinking completely. Such a shame. On a more positive note there’s an up to 50 percent off sale so we managed to get a few bargains.
Absolutely diabolical! There was only 1 toilet in the ladies that had toilet paper. All the other cubicles had none and it was the same in the Mens toilets. There was only one soap dispenser with soap in the ladies too.This was early on in the morning so the toilets had obviously not been cleaned that day. Absolutely disgusting There was no hot food in the restaurant only toasties. No soup or main meals. Had a very long time to wait for our coffee and toasties. Asked for the manager to complain about the state of the toilets. Told him but he didn’t seem that bothered. We went for the 20% off Christmas items. Absolutely Joke! There was hardly anything thing there to look at. Everything was still in boxes. The lift also didn’t work either for disabled people. Dobbies in Dundee have really gone down hill for a few years now but that has to be the worst yet. I would highly recommend not visiting there. If I could have given it 0 stars I would have.
Worst dobbies I've ever been into. No staff on tills, no hot food in restaurant, no lift to restaurant for disabled. When someone did arrive at the tills to deal with the huge queue, they served members of staff first! Lights in store not working - awful experience. I normally go out of my way to find a Dobbies, but goodness they've gone downhill.
I’m very dissatisfied with the dog friendly policy I was in Dobbies Monifieth with my dog and knew not to take her into the Sainsburys food area. I was not in that area but nearby over the walkway amongst Xmas lights and festive biscuits and sweets, I was told I couldn’t have my dog there. I asked about signs, and was told there was one on the front door and one beside the Sainsbury starting point.- none of these signs makes reference to the new Xmas areas. I revisited the sign on the front door and it is not fit for purpose, it has a big picture of a dog with big letters “dog friendly” , the exception of food hall is in very small letters not sure why it’s so small when it’s clearly an important matter With Dobbies now extending their Xmas range over the shop floor it’s important any new area selling food stuff is clearly communicated to dog customers as out of bounds also , that has not happened I asked one of the staff what about the aisle with half Xmas biscuits and half Xmas lights, he suggested I could walk the dog along the lights side. I hope the Manager can respond, I tried to find said manager but there was only one staff member on customer services with a huge queue and no one else on tills.
Visited your store today and decided to go for a coffee. While I was sitting at my table beside the wall, couldn't help but notice how dirty the restaurant was. There was tea and coffee stains all down the walls even at other places, it was disgusting. The price of a filled roll and a pot of tea for 1 person £8 nearly made me collapse in shock absolutely extortionate. After my experience today I'm afraid that I will not be back.
Visited today and had a great experience. Very professional advice from Kevin in the outdoor plants section who's knowledge is exceptional. Answered any questions very politely, with easy to understand explanations. 5*
Lovely shop, they were setting up for Christmas so a bit chaotic but really plesant staff. I accidentally wandered into the food hall with the dog and was politely reminded that dogs weren't allowed in that area. We were really pleased that Dobbies is doggy friendly as we were still able to pop in while on holiday and get our fix of garden centre goodies. It really is a bonus to have a doggy friendly area in the cafe our local one in Inverness doesn't! so much so that we returned later in the week for more delicious coffee and a scone.
Always a lovely visit to Dobbies for a stroll and a stock up for the garden and home. This store has a Sainsbury's inside, a kitchenware department, bedding and home items, garden furniture, bbqs and fire pits, a tropical aquatic animal section, indoor and outdoor plants, lots of helpful staff around to advise and checkout, a cafe up the stairs and it's even dog friendly! Always clean and well stocked, they have corona guidelines in place and a member of staff at the front when it's busy and informing when the restaurant is busy. It's a great wee afternoon out with everything for the garden, home and more.
My daughter booked to take her baby to see santa on Friday 9th December. She paid £15 in advance but while driving to the store she got stuck in traffic so was going to be 10 minutes late, she phoned the store and explained this and asked for a message to be passed on which was refused. On arriving at the store she was informed she had missed her slot and that was that. The baby is 5 weeks old so the photo would literally have taken 2 minutes to do. I think this is terrible customer service and definitely shows no Christmas spirit!
Didn't get to taste the food. Was in Dobbies on Monday. We saw the signs advertising Afternoon teas for 2 for £20. Decided to walk there yesterday, Tuesday, for afternoon tea, a three mile walk btw, six there and back and was told I couldn't order afternoon tea as you have to prebook 24 hours in advance... The should have said on their prominent signs! We left and went for a lovely meal down the road at the Bell Tree.
