MOURNING BRIDE flowers in my bouquet which I disliked and thought inappropriate. In the language of flowers they mean “unfortunate attachment. I have lost all” Elaine did my flowers last year with a few weeks’ notice which I appreciated. She was also helpful in delivering the flowers to the hotel and family home. Based on the images she sent me I eagerly anticipated some beautiful purple rununculus but they were substituted inappropriately, in my opinion, with purple mourning bride flowers. I was disappointed on the morning of my wedding and asked if it were possible to remove them, but to do so would have spoilt my bouquet. If the customer isn't entirely satisfied I do not expect the supplier to be angry and upset. Elaine then quoted the contract at me. Whilst I totally understand that there may be issues depending on availability I had just expressed my disappointment at not having what I had expected without notification. Elaine then said she was devastated. As the bride I felt my feelings should be considered. I explained that a brief courtesy text warning of the substitution would have been the answer. She said there wasn't time to send one, yet she had texted to say my flowers were ready so I do not see why this could not have been mentioned then. I received many compliments about the flowers however and after my wedding I actually took the time to send Elaine a kind message to let her know. Then I phoned her two days after my wedding and asked to speak for two minutes to smooth things over. It was Sunday evening and as she rang me previously on a Sunday evening I hoped we could have a brief friendly chat to make HER feel better even though I felt let down. She told me she was just about to watch Poldark and to call back tomorrow. I didn’t. I understand and respect people have family lives but I did not feel as if I were a valued customer. I had an absolutely wonderful wedding and the flowers were beautiful apart the substitution. They were very fresh and thoughtfully put together. I have no doubt that Elaine is talented. Such a shame about the substitution and the bad feeling with no effort to resolve otherwise it would have been a five star review. When I now look at my photos what I remember most is a spectacularly happy day irrespective of the floral glitch.
