Alex Rowe, the rudest driver I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Not only was he blasting happy hardcore music throughout the entire journey with his window down through suburban areas where children were in bed, he was extremely rude and used profanities against me multiple times. This was after I commented on the fact that he didn't have any change when we arrived at my destination. He was asking for an exact amount of money for the fare whilst I was only carrying a £10 note. I simply stated that he really should be carrying change as a customer service provider. He then insisted that I pay by card and take the £1 service charge. I said I would pay by card but I wasn't willing to pay the extra £1 for the card charges on principle. He was talking to me like absolute garbage after I told him that this level of customer service isn't what I'd expect. He had already made me late to the event I was attending by five minutes due to him hurdling abuse at me, he then made me even later by leaving the destination to go to a shop so he could buy some chewing gum on order to get change. He then dropped me off at my destination again said very little, took my money aggressively, and to top it off. He short changed me. Shocking service, I've never experienced this with Direct Cars before as I am (was) a frequent customer. This man has quite clearly got a very hot temper and is potentially dangerous. There were points where I thought that that the situation was going to get physical and I wasn't even antagonising him, just trying to treat him with the respect I expect in return.

Booked this taxi firm to take us into town from our hotel while on a weekend trip to Lincoln. The controller asked how many passengers, which we advised two. We went outside to wait for the can a few minutes before the appointed time and there was a large mini bus on the car park from this firm, with a driver playing with his phone. There was a golf bag standing on the ground by the taxi and so we assumed it had come to pick up a golfing party. The driver saw us standing there but said nothing. After several minutes waiting for another cab to arrive, we asked the driver if he had come to pick us up and he said he had, so why he hadn't asked us if we were his fare I can't imagine. When he dropped us off in town we commented that we might see him later as we would be calling them to get a cab back later. He just said "OK, have a good day." After a day in town, we called the company at 4.30pm to book a return taxi and were told they couldn't provide one for two hours, and we had a table booked at a restaurant that evening. As first time visitors to Lincoln, we didn't know if there was a bus we could catch and didn't have the number of any other taxi firms with us. Had the driver mentioned, when we said we would call them later, that we ought to pre-book as they would be busy in the evening, we could have avoided being stranded in a town we didn't know. We eventually found our way to the railway station where we got a cab off the taxi rank there, but very disappointed with Direct Cars. In the area where I live, if a firm couldn't supply a cab in less they two hours, they probably wouldn't stay in business too long.

Incredibly rude people on the end of the phone. Told one thing then another. Some operators will book a taxi no problem, tried to explain anything to some of the operators and completely ignored just kept asking ‘do you want a taxi or not’. Answered the phone and didn’t speak for 30 seconds because he was in the middle of another conversation with someone in the room with him. Also hung up the phone rudely at the end. There is a reason why handsome cabs is more popular if reccomend then any day of this place. Absolute joke of customer service

I’ve used Direct twice recently. The first booking, the driver was chatty and pleasant, despite an idiot driver nearly causing an accident. The second time was today, and the lady who took the call was lovely.
