Dinosaur Isle is always our stop off for the rainy day of our holiday. As we were in the middle of a heatwave we didn't have a rainy day. It was lovely and cool in there! There's loads of little activities for young kids. Keeps them entertained for quite a while which I found compensates for the relatively small size of the attraction. Carers also get in free, so make sure to take advantage of that if you can. Dino' Isle doesn't seem to have changed at all over the years. That is until you get into the gift shop at the end. It used to have a great selection of Dinosaur themed items at the end. After our last visit it seems to have turned into mainly a toy shop on par with the other smaller shops in Sandown. Not many dinosaur themed items in the shop unlike previous years we've been there. If you could sort out the gift shop this would be a 5*. This is a great little stop over, especially if you have younger children.
A great indoor experience that’s not just for rainy days. From outside, Dinosaur Isle doesn’t look like much, which is a shame as it’s really great inside. The exhibits and models are great and there’s much more to see than the size of the building might suggest.
Nice museum located on the beach front. Parking is discounted of the entrance price which is nice. Overall it's not a huge place but it's a priced reasonably and I guess would be one of the many attractions when at the beach front you have the amusement arcade, mini golf, nets, the beach all close by. Lots of interesting things to learn but I think I enjoyed and learned more then the kids.
Edward loved it. I was easy to get around in a wheelchair. The disabled parking touch of a distance to use the rolator. It was interesting but could have more interact stuff for those who aren't quite dinosaur fanatics.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
If your children, or you love dinosaurs, then you must visit dinosaurs isle. The museum has many displays showcasing dinosaurs from the Isle of Wight, with fascinating facts and descriptions. There are sind hands on exhibits too, that will keep the little ones entertained. Kids are also given a work sheet to complete as they follow the exhibits. Also remember to show receipting the refund section of your parking ticket for some money back! Overall a really enjoyable few hours for the family.
Great place to go and the displays are good. Interaction for children even the Child at heart Beware you might need ear plugs, the children can be noisy. This place is a lot of hands on. We could not see anyone in the work shop at the time we were there, 11am.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Car parking quite expensive minimum 4 hours at over 5£ , but you do get reduction off from museum entry so made better. The main hall is very good, large exhibition with lots of interesting reading and big Dino models and fossils to view. The outside needs bit more TLC and looks aged.
Good place to visit with the kids. Well maintained pre historic fossils are helpful for the students. Parking is one issue as the parking area is operated by the private company and minimum period to park is four hours. If you are planning to visit the Sandown beach and the mini golf course it is fine. The dinosaur Isle will only take maximum of an hour to complete tour.
Good place to take children especially dinosaur enthusiasts. It's fairly short I'd say 1.5 hour maximum is the time you can spend looking at everything. There are lots of interactive bits for children. Definitely worth a vist
Great place to visit if your kid likes dinosaurs. Very informative and great timeline for the genealogy of dinosaur in general as well as local species. I would have never equated a puffin to the modern day dinosaur!!!!!
