First time going out of my way to leave a review of a train station!! But more so to leave a review of the staff and who I am assuming is the Station Master - so friendly and cheery in the early hours of the morning, always present. I always enjoy the cheery and amusing announcements, always make me smile
Didcot station is the very heart of what makes the town so important. From here you can get to almost anywhere in the country, including London in just over 30minutes! Although a very tired and poorly station like many others there are regular cleaners around to keep things getting too out of control. Next to the station you can also see the historic steam engines from the neighboring museum.
Very helpful and hardworking rail staff work here. I left my bag stupidly on a train I got off here, and when I asked them about getting it back they were amazing. One member of staff helpfully directed me to the correct guy to solve my problem, and that guy did everything he could. He asked all the right questions about my bags, he found the train instantly just by when I'd arrived at Didcot, he knew the right person at the next manned station to ask to check for my bag, he kept me in touch and calm. All in all, I can't thank the members of staff here and on GWR enough. Many many thanks!
Delays today, but well organised. Constant information which is needed when travelling.
It is an important railways node, but it is a bit outdated. When there are heavy rains, the access tunnel gets flooded.
