"The Dewsbury Bus Museum is owned and operated by the West Riding Omnibus Museum Trust and is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. The aim of the Trust is to preserve the transport heritage of the West Riding of Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. Some of our buses and coaches are owned by groups, others by individual members.We are a Registered Charity, No. 702232, and virtually all of our income is derived from members' subscriptions, the proceeds of events and book sales and rental of space to members to store their own vehicles.We hold a number events each year, some at the Museum and others in the West Riding area. Preserved buses and coaches from the local area which sometimes have open days where the old buses are used to give free rides to members of the public
They put on an open day 3 open days a year, and provide bus rides between the museum and Dewsbury. A good afternoon out at minimal cost the rides are free with a donation to the museum, be it only 3 times a year. The museum is open at other times and is always worth a look inside, to see how preservation comes to life.
Excellent museum, variety of buses & coaches maintained to a very high standard, highly recommend.
It’s basically a bus garage full of old buses, some working, others under restoration. Nothing fancy but for the true bus connoisseur it’s fascinating. Open day tomorrow, can’t wait.
