This bouldergym in Birmingham seems to have it all. It’s in an old warehouse in the industrial part of town. It’s big, with many, many extras. Good training area with everything you need, large shop and bar with good coffee and really good music all around the gym. Speakers everywhere. I guess music wise it comes down to taste, but at least it’s nowhere too loud or soft. So how’s the climbing? Great actually! Lots and lots of problems from horizontal overhangs to balance acts on slab. To be honest I haven’t seen a gym abroad which focuses on technical slab problems like here. Big plus when your arms are pumped and want to do something else. And no top-outs! I really don’t like those…. Things it lacks. Again no app to see exactly what grade you just flashed. And it’s lacking a bit on the cozy department, but if your here only for the climbing. Really great option! Want to see more reviews follow me on ig #boulderblogeurope
Lots of bouldering, lots of space. I found the range within the grade bands to be good and nicely challenging at my level. Well stocked shop and good coffee. Looks like extensive training facilities but I didn't explore or use them. Good range of brushes to buy! Can store your bikes inside the centre: a nice touch. Would definitely recommend and revisit. Why not 5 stars? That would require an equivalent cafe to the one at the GCC. Not been to a climbing centre that comes near to rivalling that cafe!
Great vibes and cool new routes every week with interesting problems. Very airy and spacious facilities and most of the times a great music selection that helps you give that extra push. Friendly staff and good crowds giving tips and helping out makes it definitely my go to place for indoor climbing in Birmingham
A really good climbing centre. A nice variety of problems to suit a vast range of ability. Also have a mini gym upstairs. Staff are welcoming and friendly, everyone else there is helpful and encouraging. Would definitely recommend.
Our first time today and we booked the kids induction. The guy was great with our kids, they loved it. Hopefully back soon for some climbing
This is a great bouldering centre. There are regular route resets so you always have new climbs to complete, there is a range of difficulty in routes, from beginner friendly to "how is that even possible" level. The walls themselves are varied, as some are vertical, some have an incline, and some even require you to climb upside. Upstairs there is a gym type area as well as finger boards so you can hone in on your strength training. There are plenty of cubbys to store your things, but if you want something more secure the changing rooms have lockers you must provide your own padlock and key. There is also a climbing shop by the entrance where you can purchase anything from clothes to chalk, shoes to hand exercising gear, as well as there being food and drinks available to purchase. The staff are always super nice and friendly, and they know what they are doing and talking about when it comes to climbing. Most importantly though for the time is that this centre is taking covid safety carefully. You must sign in and out, the water fountain is not in use, the back of the centre is open there is a garage door type thing leading to the outside as well as fans to help air flow. The music is kept quite to limit the need to shout or get close to people, and there are hand sanitizing stations situated around the centre. You are asked to wear a face mask in communal areas even climb in it if you want to, and the staff all wear face shields, as well as there being plastic guards up on the counters at reception.
Took our 3 children to have an hours session at climbing. They had a guy teach and supervise them at all times- he was brilliant with them I couldn't thank him enough for how great he was and the patience he had with them. Our children loved it and we will be returning soon!
Friendly staff a great manager with great ideas, accommodating and welcoming members that make newbies feel welcome. Its a great space, great community and in my opinion the best location to climb for all levers to climb in West Midlands..
Great variety of high quality routes for all abilities, enough to humble us for sure! Well stocked shop and coffee!
Really interesting climbs, even the lower grades had is learning heel hooks and knee bars. Cafe is nice and all the staff and other climbers were really nice. Minus one star for not having any crack volumes though
