The appointment for my partner and I was due to take place on the 3/8/22. We were running late due to circumstances beyond our control and did not have time to contact the practice to advise them of this. When we got there, both appointments were knocked out. I could understand my partner's one being thus, but there was time for mine to take place. We got neither and have not booked again since because of the way we were treated by the Receptionist. Moreover, the alert E-Mails were still set to 'pandemic' mode, even though the rules about face masks are no longer in force which includes Healthcare Settings now and restricted access to the surgery was no longer exercised. We were also advised to visit the toilet before we came as the toilets had restricted access. This seemed to both of us to be pretty childish - we are mature adults - and it didn't allow for someone who was disabled and might need the loo urgently. These things I put in an E-Mail over two months ago, amid concern that the surgery was going a bit too far with its stipulations, but no-one bothered to reply. To date, I have never received a response. So we still haven't got a dental appointment any time soon, without these stupid out of date restrictions. I noticed that my partner and I are not the only ones with Autism, and treated badly, judging by the most recent review. The surgery needs to get its act together or they will lose clients.
Read the reviews but took the chance and now i regret it. Having been to many hygienists in High Wycombe and Birmingham, i would not recommend this Dental Practice. There probably is a reason why there is nobody in the waiting room! Something i never have seen before. In all my time going to hygienists have i ever been told I can't remove all your calculus / plaque on one appointment, you will need to come back. Appointments are either £71 or £83 for a more intensive clean, so you are charging me £83 to not clean all my teeth, just the bottom row. Absolutely disgraceful, to think its justified to charge a new patient with no other issues nearly £170 to clean there whole mouth. Do yourself a favour, go to a private dental practice like The Dentist at Liberty place in Birmingham, its just a short walk from New St Station. A extended hygienist visit is £90, a advanced is £120. The extended visit is a good 30 minutes, scaling your whole mouth fully and properly! I believe the advance will include extras like x rays...
I agree with other negative posts written, this dentist practice is appalling with a service to match, they continually cancel appointments by text with no apology, on my last visit I wanted to buy a toothbrush from the cabinet by reception but I was told that they didn't have the key to open it so suggested I buy one from Boots!! Their costs for a hygienist appointment is ridiculous and if I had a choice I would move to a different practice but unfortunately that isn't possible as there are none available in our area
I’ve gone to this dentist for over 20 years as a Denplan customer & it’s never been the same since Bernadette retired. Broke my back tooth, rang & left a msg. No response. Rang again & told they have no dentists & are currently recruiting. Apparently I can go to their sister dentist in Grove 19 miles away. If I want to change dentist I need to see my dentist to sign off & enter a new contract with a new dentist which will take 21 days!! Absolute joke!!
I don’t trust this practice have your health as their main objective. These are my experiences having gone there for 10 years as an nhs patient. There’s a constant turnover of dentists and receptionists. I had a ‘private’ standard £600 crown front tooth trial fitted a few years ago after being pushed to go private. It didn’t fit well but was told it looked fine. I disagreed as there was a gap to my gum and was quite upset that this expensive tooth looked terrible, I insisted it be sent back to be remade. I’ve never had any other fillings in my life at 42 yet without having any sensitivity, cavity or pain was told I randomly needed a filling in one tooth during one visit, I’ve not seen that dentist there again since. With previous dentists that tooth was never raised as a concern and the one on the other side is fine. It’s a 40 minute drive for me to go to Carterton yet on my last appointment I arrived on time and was told it had been cancelled. The receptionist said they’d been trying to call me, which was a blatant lie, they had the correct number but at no point during the day did I not have a signal. I had no missed calls or voicemails come through then, or the following days. I didn’t even feel like I got much of an apology at the time and left feeling like it was my fault. It was rescheduled for today at 15:20, I got there at 15:30 having got the wrong time, genuine mistake, and was told it was cancelled, the receptionist wouldn’t do anything ‘the computer says no’ type. This despite the fact they messed me around last time. It seems like their mistakes go unpunished but they won’t help when a patient makes a genuine mistake. You decide if this is a good place to go! My wife moved to another practice years ago because she struggled to understand the non uk born dentist who has since left after a few appointments, I really wish I’d followed suit.
I would have to agree with the previous reviewer. I mistakenly signed up with this practice and have not had the service I’d expect when attending routine appointments. The hygienist nicked my gum and my tooth became very sore for many days. They wouldn’t see me for many days either even though I called them to explain something is not right. Then this week my wisdom tooth became sore/infected and even though kept asking for an emergency appointment this was not possible. Due to me being registered with them I cannot get another emergency appointment elsewhere- called 111 and was told this. Duty of care doesn’t mean much… Another dentist in Carterton took pity on me and triaged me over the phone and gave me a prescription for antibiotics to ward off the infection. I’m very grateful and shall move to that practice even if I have to go in as a private patient for now.
Notice on the door saying that their dentists have left, the place has been going down hill for a while now. I suspect we will see an empty building shortly.
I was shamed by the dentist I saw for having problems with my teeth due to mental health problems. My brother who also had an appointment before me went there for a cleaning and was given an injection to numb his mouth without ANY warning and a single tear fell down his face from unexpected pain, despite him being autistic. I’ve never been to this practice before but I will not be going again.
Very kind reception staff who sympathised with me when I had pain and they fitted me in the same day. The dentist was lovely and kept me calm.
My daughter had an appointment for a filling with Pedro. She was absolutely terrified, however Pedro was amazing with her and so kind and super patient. He booked a longer slot, so he didn't rush her appt and was so caring, checking she was ok constantly as he treated her. Kayleigh, his dental assistant was also really lovely and was so kind and reasurring to my daughter throughout the appt. Can't thank them enough!
