Dens Park

Story

Dens Park is a football stadium located on Dens Road in Dundee, Scotland. The stadium is the home of Scottish Premiership club Dundee and has a capacity of. The stadium shares part of the same road (Sandeman Street) as Tannadice Park, which is the home of city rivals Dundee United. The two stadiums are just 300-metres apart. In May 2009, it was reported that the stadium is owned by local businessman John Bennett who, despite having invested heavily in Dundee, has rejoined the Dundee United board, where he had previously been a director until September 2008.HistoryDundee moved to "Dens" from their first stadium at Carolina Port in 1899.Following Dundee's successful league campaign during the 1998–99 season, Dens park had to be redeveloped to adhere to the new Scottish Premier League seat-capacity guidelines. Dundee were therefore required to redevelop the East and West terraces. Barr Stadium Construction were charged with the task of removing the existing concrete terraces and the construction of two 3,000-seat stands. The stands were built in a record time of 82 days for the start of the 1999–00 season. The two near-identical single-tier Bobby Cox and Bob Shankly Stands sit at either end of the ground. The former usually houses home supporters while the latter houses the away supporters. A new Club Shop and ticket office were also built. Dens Park was the first stadium in Dundee to have its floodlights upgraded in the twenty-first century. Undersoil heating was installed in 2005.

Historic football stadium and home of DFC. Good vibes most Saturdays, featuring the Charlie Cooke lounge for a pint before the match. A few other decent pubs in the vicinity too. Decent pie at the tea bar although recently they don't take cash! Usually the pitch is to a high standard and must be a great place to play football.
As far as premier league standard stadiums go, this has to be one of the worst. Big queues to get in as an away fan. A condemned part of the stadium. One shop open to serve lots of fans meaning a long wait for service. I was in the main stand and there were pillars blocking some of the view and it was £33 for a ticket.
Interesting ground but with good sightlines and intimate atmosphere. Tickets for both home and visiting fans are pretty cheap and readily available. Food is the usual offerings hotdogs, sausages rolls if a bit dear £3.50 for a cup of Fanta!. Even the home team DJ seems content to take historical potshots at visiting teams #classy
Excellent stadium, nicely situated out of town. I went to visit the area of Dundee recently as part of a weekend break & visited other parts of Scotland. Whilst I was in Dundee, I decided to walk away from the town & up the hills to walk along the roads & around the 2 football clubs during my visit, as wanted to see for myself how close the 2 stadiums in Dundee were to each other. I now know how close both stadiums are, if you walk along the Tannadice Street from 1 end to the other, you can at some point see both stadiums whilst standing in a certain area along certain roads near the stadiums.
The Dens needs considerable improvement. While I recognise it is a work in progress with a lovely seating arrangement, the signage was poor and difficult to follow and identify.nnI understand that management is trying to bring Dens Park up to standard, such as installing an electronic scoreboard. Although Dens Park is close to the Dundee United stadium, it remains less developed. I really enjoyed the match between Aberdeen FC and Dundee, which Aberdeen won 3-1.nnDens Park is situated within a residential area, so I wonder if this creates noise for the residents during matches. The food, including hot dogs and pie, was excellent. I truly enjoyed it. Another thing I think requires consideration is the parking lots on match day. It doesn't appear easy. Thanks to the police who ensure the traffic keeps moving, and Aberdeen supporters are constantly checking to avoid stories that touch the heart.
