Lovely hidden gem. Coffee shop was brilliant...lots of home bakes and nice food at a reasonable price. Had a walk around the castle which was filled with some great history. Before we went in for lunch we did one of the forest walks right next to the Castle. Glorious Autumn colours in the trees. Will be back!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Had never been, really enjoyed it. Very rustic, well worth a visit. Lots of paths for walks. Had lunch and it was very good at reasonable prices. Maybe in need of tiding up in places but it added to the rustic feeling. Glad we went.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
We just had an absolutely delightful afternoon at Delgatie Castle for Mothers Day. We had a tour of the castle interior refreshingly informal yet informative and then a bountiful afternoon tea with a doggie bag box actually! to take away the cakes etc that we couldn’t eat. There was a lovely gift shop there too - and a take home surprise for every Mother. The staff were so friendly and helpful and chatted away happily with us. We can thoroughly recommend Delgatie Castle!
We had a great week in the Hayfield Appartment at Delgatie Castle! It was very clean, fresh and tastfully decorated for a oldieworldie, vintage castle feel. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we were looking for and had appliances including a washing machine, microwave, freezer and dishwasher. The bed was very comfy and the linen felt quite luxurious. There are walks in Dalgetie woods within the castle grounds, and a great little coffee shop within the castle - 'The Lairds Kitchen'. There is also a lovely little gift shop and you can visit the castle on a self-guided tour which we found very interesting. Despite it being a tourist attraction we didn't find this a bother at all as the entrance to the suite is to the back of the castle. Parking is to the rear of the castle for staff and holiday guests and a short walk from the entrance to the Hayfield suite. We could bring our car to nearer the entrance for unpacking though. We had a baby with us and this posed no problem at all. It is a great location for exploring and there is so much to do in the close vicinity. We couldn't fit it all into a week so we will definitely need to visit again!
Great little castle with lots to see. I liked the informative and humorous info boards in each room. My son really enjoyed the little treasure hunt sheet.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I cannot describe how wonderful this castle is. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The history and the rooms were beautiful, so much history and it was a genuine delight to be there. The tea room is highly recommended. The food was incredible and options for kiddos too. The lemon cake is fantastic!!!! We will definitely be coming back time an dtime again.

October holiday special, kids go free otherwise we wouldn't of went as its £5 per child and adult. At the price it was at it was quite good, the castle is deceiving from the outside, as it's substantially larger than it appears from the outside. Lots of history and artifacts from around the world, not just scotland. The tour was self guided, with poster boards up with facts and they made a little quiz for the kids, which a nice little touch when they needed a nudge to stay interested. The cafe downstairs is a tad pricey, we avoided it but kids needed a top up so bought a bag of 4 small animals cookies at £2 a bag. The castle itself has plenty of woodland and resident Shetland ponies who are very friendly.
We were welcomed on our visit to the castle and were allowed to wander off and read the guide information per room. The rooms are interesting and very acletic. The doll houses were a special note of interest. In addition we has some lovely cake and tea, all home baked by Joan the custodian of the castle Trust. There is trout farm in the grounds were people go fly fishing and a wood adjoing were fine walks are to be had.
