Decathlon, was established in 1976 (Lille, France). After a decade of growth, the brand expanded into the European market and eventually worldwide with over 1000 stores. Launching in the UK in 1999, Decathlon is now one of the world’s largest sports retailers, boasting 30 stores in the UK and a strong relationship with ASDA. Therefore making “sport accessible to all” by offering best value equipment with great sports advice and services such as 365-days return, bike repairs, free running events etc.

Saw the bike department for help for a beginner in the world of bike equipment and comfort. Welcomed by manager Sam, who seemed kind and efficient. Stephan patiently worked with me on my many questions and solutions. Hard-working, efficient and passionate about what he does. A real star. Second time I've visited and brilliant experiences and staff both times.

Positives:nNicely laid out, spacious and well lit.nDecathlon always offers good value sports goods but this store can fall short when it comes to having a full range of sizes in-stock. Having said that, they offer a free click and collect service for their own goods, amongst other brands sometimes not available in-store.nCustomer service is normally pretty good, although you can sometimes struggle to find staff members to ask for assistance, or be left waiting for a few minutes. Customer service assistants are often polite and helpful.nnNegatives:nUnfortunately, some of the low cost items are reflected in the quality. Mostly, quality is satisfactory, occasionally it’s really good and occasionally it’s dreadful. My advice would be to pay more for branded items which would cause significant risk to health and safety. In particular, bike components. I once bought a bike chain that snapped and fetched me off my bike, luckily at a moderate speed. The one I exchanged it for also snapped. I then bought a Shimano chain which was perfect.nnI do really like Decathlon and will continue to shop there.

I bought an electric bike and accessoriesnthis week at Decathlon Sheffield.  Sam and the team on the cycling department were very friendly and helpful.  The bike was thoroughly checked over and made ready for the road.  Also Joseph on the Outdoor Gear department  was similarly very friendly and helpful.  All round a very good shopping experience, would definitely recommend.
