Love this place as it's always got something for everyone. It's better than the one down town. Also it seems little known that one whole floor is the shop 'Sports Direct. It's restaurant is lovely too. It also has the usual ladies and gents clothes stores but also a ladies one called 'Fuse' and the clothes are wonderfully unusual there.
Great staff team. Food very good
A vast expanse of clothing and things without any customers, we were probably the only people in the store at the time of our visit. It's a great shame to see these old established department stores fold and go under, a casualty of modern technology and a new generation of shoppers who prefer to buy online and not see what they are buying until they get it. Still got what I wanted and had a free use of the restroom. Will be gone, RIP along with the others.
Great spacious store. Attentive security staff... Very helpful shop assistants. Very knowledgeable of products and services. In particular one gentleman who works in fragrance. An expert... clearly loves his job. Thank you Mr.
The shop was fine ...not many shoppers in there but a good array of products. We also ate in their resturant. We had breakfast sandwiches which was cooked to order, the egg and sausage were overcooked and they only had white bread so we probably wouldnt eat there again but will go to shop.
A very convenient store in the centre of Southsea. It is not too big, being mainly on two floors. The excellent restaurant/coffee shop is on the second floor. Staff are always helpful. It is well served by public transport with stops right outside. Somewhere to park can usually be found a short walk away.
Decided to have lunch in our local store and was very disappointed with the poor surroundings, it felt like like a working mans cafe, while attempts to paint a couple. of wall in nice colours, it lacked Atmosphere, it was bare and cold looking, the food was poor and more expensive than most of the local eateries, and very little choice, in fact do not want to go there again.
Soulless. Overpriced. Poor quality stuff in general, especially at the price - only when items are in the sale are they being sold ata price they're actually worth. No wonder retailers like these are going under not having moved with the times of online shopping or offering something different/exciting to the high street customer that will create more footfall. Shoppers can see through the tactics of inflated normal prices and regular 'sales' cycles.
After shopping in the store on Saturday 4th June my wife and I decided to go for breakfast. Not sure what my wife wanted she asked the lady behind the counter what was in the covered pots. With a big sigh she replied eggs, mushrooms, beans and then raised her eyes. Her attitude was terrible and she made us feel we were inconveniencing her. My wife asked if they did fried eggs, her eyes went up in her head and said yes and then began huffing and puffing. The assistant then asked me what I wanted and rather than go through the same huffing and puffing situation I said I will have the same as my wife. She then walked away and left us standing there. Another assistant said find a seat and we will bring it over. We ordered tea and sat down. The breakfast arrived with a nice piece of toast, that's if you want one side like charcoal. I took it back the assistant who served it looked at it and walked away. The nice younger assistant said I will change it for you. Over came the toast, nice and golden on one side and white on the other. Terrible experience, never again.
I come from the Isle of Wight to shop here. When it closes it will be very much missed. I worked here when it was Handleys its history is iconic and now it is closing. We must blame ourselves too much shopping on the Internet. Our laziness to get out of our homes has lead to this, soon there will be nothing left.
