Would have loved to have done the factory tour but it wasn’t on when we went. But there’s still an interesting display and explanations of street furniture outside, and cutlery exhibits in the cafe.nnFood was incredible - the broccoli and stilton soup was to die for. Quite pricey and the shop was SO expensive - but everything is wrapped so intricately in paper by the staff it was a pleasure to watch.nnI will say it’s hard to get a seat in the cafe and we ended up sitting with strangers.nnWould definitely like to go back for the tour and more food!
Have always wanted to visit David Mellor Hathersage. Got there yesterday and did not disappoint - great site, great buildings, wonderful shop and cafe and of course the exhibition and story of this remarkable British designer and his work. Very engaged, informed and welcoming staff and looked after so well by Thomas and by Claire who had pre-organised our nephew’s wedding present and made it all so easy. The way this former town gasworks has been transformed into a design factory and visitor attraction within what is now a mature landscape setting has a zen-like atmosphere of design, making, and ‘being’. I am a committed discipline of Mellor’s belief that good design should be part of the everyday. Just a great day and one to remember.
really good visit to David or design museum and splendid lunch at the cafe with an excellent small menu and friendly helpful staff.
Very friendly in the shop, some beautiful items but way out of our league. Display of the street furniture was interesting.nFactory was closed on the day we visited.
Glad we got to visit after so long of wanting to. Interesting. You get some history of The company.nA nice cafe and a shop with lots of kitchen type items . Very nice. . very expensivenLovely round factory which we were not able to go round but There are factory tours available at certain times. Car park and general appearance all very well kept
