This is a friendly health club, I like the set up of the gym and feel comfortable exercising on my own or with my 11 and 14 year olds here. The indoor pool is ok, the changing rooms have been colder than I’d have liked recently and the spa/steam room and sauna are basic. Needs an upgrade as other local clubs have decent spa facilities. Still it’s a great gym to have locally. And the outdoor pool is wonderful all year round especially in the spring
Very friendly staff excellent facilities. The kitchen seems to struggle at busy times but when the food comes it is of a good quality. Love the outdoor poo.
No where to lay down to relax, beds only outside in the cold! Not even enough chairs to sit by the Spa area, not Jet Water either on the Jacuzzi, my partner was not feeling very well and he had absolutely no where to lay down for some time. Really disappointed. Staff was very friendly, no chef on the day I visited, overall it was OK, but definitely wouldn't come back. Relaxing quality time is really important and was not available....
I do love it here, however I've noticed recently that the indoor pool temperature has been turned down, other members have said the same. If its been turned down due to heating costs then surely that should reflect in our membership price.
I'm not happy at all. I've made made calls and asked the same questions at the reception. No one gets back to us about our premium joint membership and errors made, that they all acknowledge. It was a disaster from the beginning. I guess now we're tied in to an annual contract. They don't care. It shows in the customer service or lack of. Its not enough to be lovely!
This is a comparison to certain other David Loyds places I’ve been to. It’s not as invested in. The spa area is very small and adjacent to the pool. The gym equipment looks like it’s ready for an uplift. However, people were friendly and hence I give it four stars.
I feel this place is a 4 star health centre, but charging a 5 star price... hence, slightly overpriced for what is currently available, e.g., jacuzzi/whirlpool currently not available if that makes sense? The sauna and steam by the pool area are both a decent size, both with above average temperatures and humidities. The shower unit between them did not have a functioning cold tap, but fortunately, the "hot" tap was lukewarm. The gym area, which was located on the first floor was well equipped, but if you were doing heavy sets of "dropping" the weights, due to the location of the weightlifting area, the receptionists would hear the noise AND feel the ceiling shaking above them!? All the staff I had interactions with seemed very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating especially Hayley. Overall, a good experience
I spoke with Karen today. she was very helpful and answered all my questions concerning my visit to the gym. I believe she had my best interest at heart she is a true asset to David Lloyd.
Signed up for a trial - As usual with health clubs, the sauna was far too busy with people coming in and out for only a few minutes. The steam room door was broken and I later found out it has been ongoing for two weeks. Is that how long it takes to replace a door? Overall it was very busy, there was no parking available close to the entrance, the restaurant was dirty/messy and the pool area was essentially an after school club that lasts late into the evening.
Absolutely poor customer service from David Loyds Sidcup, I signed up to a 14 day trial, I was advised by a new sales employee this will be extended for the entire December period if I signed up now. I thought this was great and I can get a real feel of the gym for me, my wife and the kids. A senior sales staff memeber has randomly called me on day 13 of the trial and told me out of the blue 14 days is all I will get. I was not treated in a professional manner on this phone call, AVOID! I felt belittled not a professional conversation, practically told I am a liar. I would rather loose my trial then carry on with this shambles of a gym company. I was strongly considering this gym but after that call no thanks. If I could give a 0 I strongly would. Please read David Loyds mission statement clearly the front sales desk are missing this. Further to your today comment, you are absolutely lying, this is absolutely obscene, you promise one thing and do another. Absolutely terrible you do not honour your words. A person further down the comment has experienced similar disgruntled employee behaviour from this branch please be aware of the horrible attitude staff have.
