I had an amazing experience touring the David Lloyd gym in Beckenham, thanks to Corinne! From the moment I arrived, she was incredibly welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable. She gave me a thorough tour of the facilities, answered all my questions with patience, and made the entire onboarding process smooth and stress-free. Corinne’s friendly and approachable manner made me feel right at home—she truly represents the club at its best. A fantastic introduction to David Lloyd. Thank you, Corinne!
This is a review of the joining process, as I am yet to start my membership. Billy was fantastic in showing me around and helping me get my family joined up. He was really accommodating when I needed to feed and change my baby during the tour, which was very kind of him. Thank you Billy - 5 stars to you! I look forward to visiting as a member.
Update - Jan 2025nThe refurbished facilities are impressive but with the influx of new members despite the steep fee, it now feels just like a family focused all inclusive hotel with a gym. Weekends are practically catered to family/children based activities.nAlso with the mass return to offices, I am not sure how members like myself are supposed to get value for money here anymore. Classes in the evenings are always full, courts are always booked, shower has a queue, new spa filled to capacity constantly nothing relaxing about that, PT fees increased, restaurant takes an hour to prepare a drink and the car park is always full so people double park or get turned away and have to park on the road with residents who rightfully are annoyed when they can’t find a parking space.nIf there’s a waiting list for new members, I’m happy to be let go to make space for them.n——————————————nI hate gyms but was looking for a great place to resume my love of swimming. Happened upon this spot and after my tour with Stephen, I was sold!! It’s honestly a club - mind body and soul. They’ve been undergoing renovations and I am pumped to experience it all and find new hobbies.
Lee and Corinne are absolute stars at David Lloyd Beckenham. Their energy, professionalism, and friendliness make every visit feel like a boost. Lee’s sessions are always motivating, well-structured, and tailored to push you just enough, while Corinne’s warm and welcoming presence at the club adds a personal touch that makes all the difference. You can tell they both genuinely care about members’ experience and well-being. A real credit to the team!
Deeply Disappointed by David Lloyd's Misleading Sales and Poor Customer ServicennI recently had a very unpleasant experience with David Lloyd Beckenham, and while I’m extremely disappointed, I will try to present the facts as objectively as possible.nnWhen I first toured the facility with the sales team, I was explicitly told that I could bring my parents as social guests to watch my child’s activities. I was assured that this social guest pass was unlimited, which played a significant role in my decision to join.nnHowever, today I brought my mum along to watch my child’s tennis session—something we’ve been doing every week — only to be told at reception that the policy has changed and social guests are no longer allowed. This change was never communicated to me in advance. I was given two options: send my mum home, or pay £45 for a full guest pass, just for her to sit quietly courtside and watch her grandson play.nnWhen I asked if a friend who is a member could issue a guest pass instead, I was told that the person issuing the pass had to be physically present. The duty manager’s handling of the situation was inflexible and unempathetic.nnFrankly, I’m shocked that a so-called premium gym — one that charges hundreds of pounds per month—treats its members with such disregard. This is not the level of service one would expect from a business that claims to value its members.nnUnfortunately, this isn’t an isolated incident. I’ve consistently found the staff to be unhelpful and at times even unfriendly. I am also beginning to question whether I’m being treated differently due to my race, which is deeply troubling.nnDavid Lloyd has failed to deliver on its promises and to treat its members with basic respect. I would strongly caution others to think twice before signing up.
