This is the better of the 2 ferry crossings. It’s manoeuvred by a tug boat and makes a pleasurable crossing. Takes vehicles and foot passengers. Staff are always very helpful and friendly to talk to. Great views while crossing. Perfect for getting into the centre of Dartmouth from Kingswear.
Arrived at Kingswear on a Saphos steam train day trip to celebrate a birthday. Then took a ferry over to Dartmouth with lovely views of the river Dart, which is a lovely place to visit, but wished we had possibly thought more about what we were going to do in advance, as we would have otherwise taken a river cruise. Strangely some of the cafés were closed on a Saturday, but still had time to enjoy the views before taking a short return trip back to Kingswear railway station.
Short 5-minute ferry ride across to Darmouth. Take tissue with you in case you need to dry the outdoor seating
Very convenient and short ride over to Dartmouth from Kingswear, bought the 10 trip pass for £35 which is good value. I've read negative comments about the staff BUT we found them very friendly and chatty....track time across about 5 minutes which was good.
