I really wish I took photos inside especially once evening set in it was stunning, as it was so warm we chose to sit outside but it's a lovely place with a lovely character inside. The staff was friendly and attentive but also gave us plenty of space to enjoy our time and conversations without constantly interrupting. We used the sundowner set menu and chose the 2 courses, really good value for money. Loved my pig chop it was so succulent and cooked to perfection. We shared the 2 desserts the Creme brulee was divine and so was the hot chocolate brioche pudding I can't recommend enough! Our cocktails was quite strong and tasty definitely got our moneys worth. Definitely add this place to your list! Everything was on point cannot complain
Visited for Sunday lunch and had a great time. We had a selection of starters which were all generous and very tasty. I had the porchetta roast which was a treat and a step up from the usual roast pork. The meat was very tender and my companions who had steak said it was perfectly cooked. Dark Horse has a great wine list which is definitely the best value around. I don't know of any restaurant in the area with so many choices under £30. You can order within your budget and always be happy with what you're drinking.
I recently dinner at The Dark Horse with my kids and family, for our Easter Sunday meal. We loved it so much, that my eldest child told the waiter, they'd give the restaurant 5 stars if the dessert matched the level of the starters and the mains. So here I am, on behalf of my child, whom at times is a harsh food critic, giving a 5 star review! Well deserved!! The food was absolutely scrumptious and we will 100% be returning. Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating and friendly towards my children.
They really seem to know what they are doing in the kitchen. Probably the best pork chop I have ever had. I have been there three times now, every time all of the dishes were great.
The dark horses in interesting hotel. An arrival particularly at night there doesn't appear to be a clear indication where the entrance is? The reception area is continuously in a low light by day and by night. The trouble is it becomes a turn off to the older generation who struggle with low light to read documents and are mindful of footing. It would be interesting to know what lighting there is in the event of an emergency. The reception staff are very friendly and accommodating The dining area is well laid out, and is busy. The staff are very attentive although the food could be improved. We opted for the steaks which were well cooked. However, the salad was simply a collection of green leaves with a hint of brown with no effort I thought to make it appealing. The rooms are very clean and well laid out with a kettle and lovely biscuits to welcome you there.
A large charming establishment with seating for dining parties of all sizes. Exquisite Mix of tasty Mediterranean influenced British cuisine. Superb Customer service!!!!! I cant fault it at all. Clean
The food was lovely and the service is quick. I had the Octopus salad to start and the Lamb for mains. The lamb was done nicely and not seasoned to death like most other places. Only negative are those damn chairs, I kept hitting my elbows or the nerves around my elbows all the flippin' time, get a hacksaw and chop the long arms of the backs off please!
Fantastic food and very attentive and friendly service. Absolutely worth a visit.
Never had a bad meal in here, always absolutely delish and love that they update the menu often. Was a bit cold inside! I know it's the height of winter but I had to sit with my coat on which wasn't great... but over all really good
Came here for a Sunday lunch and restaurant was fully booked during lunch. I ordered roast lamb roast. The lamb meat was pretty tender and juicy. I wasn’t happy with the roasted potato as it was slightly hard and not fluffy as expected inside. The Apple and apricot crumble tasted delicious and topped with ice cream yummy! Overall I think it’s a nice restaurant in East Village. I would come back again during the week for their other menu.
