Our cuisine is inspired by the lands through which the Danube flows, and is served in elegant surroundings overlooking Newark castle.
We have a fully licensed bar serving a full range of drinks including German beers, central European spirits and a range of wines.
Hot and cold drinks are also available including caffeine free teas and our own special hot chocolate, which is probably the best in Nottinghamshire!

Whenever I am in Newark I have to visit Danube. It's an amazing blend of foods from central and western Europe and everything is prepared really beautifully. The quality of the food is very good too, and they serve a range of German beers. This is all set in a nicely decorated restaurant in central Newark.
A genuinely lovely family owned restaurant. So good we have to come back every time we visit Newark, and we had our wedding breakfast here after being married in the Undercroft at Newark Castle. Top notch Hungarian & Eastern European food! Recommended!
We have visited The Danube on several occasions for lunch on Saturday and Sunday. The food and service are both excellent with a great choice even for a gluten free diet. Prices are very reasonable and the afternoon tea looks delicious.
Great place to go and eat. We both had 3 courses and all was perfect in every way. Very good service too. Well worth a visit you won't be dissapointed.
Had an amazing lunch here. Everything was fresh and incredibly tasty. Had the best goulash I have ever eaten, other half had an amazing pork dish. Everything from starters to desserts was stunning apple strudel from heaven. I would make a trip from afar to visit this restaurant.
The best atmosphere in Newark bar none. Always welcoming and with a homely feel we just don't get elsewhere. Love it here.
What a fabulous place. But for the passing traffic I could have been by the Danube. There's a good variety of European dishes on the menu. I had the Wiener Schnitzel which was cooked to perfection. Can thoroughly recommend.
