I arrived here because I was booked for a trip on the Maid of the Forth to Inchcolm Island. You get a great view of the Forth Railway Bridge. There is shelter for a wetter day and there are notices for onward travel. The day I was here the ticket machine was not working.nFor me directions to the pier were good but the route is challenging. Steep steps, some broken as are the handrails. I wouldn't want to descend or ascend on a wet day.
Amazing views of the Fourth Rail Bridge. First arrived thinking I would maybe not get parked but there is a VERY large car park at the station. I travelled here so that I could cross over the Fourth Rail Bridge. Wait wasn’t too long for a train and the journey over the bridge was a fantastic one. You can get off at North Queensferry and go back over back to Dalmeny. Trip is rather inexpensive so worth the money.
We caught a train to Edinburgh Waverley which took 20 minutes and cost just over £5.00 each for a return.nWe travelled between 8.00 am and 9.00 am on a weekday and had anticipated parking for the car might be an issue. However this was not the case and there was ample parking.nWe purchased tickets from the machine located on the northbound platform and walked over the footbridge to the southbound platform.nThere is a waiting room on the southbound platform. There is a small refreshment kiosk just as you leave the carpark to go up the ramp to the station.nThis is a better option to visit Edinburgh, rather than drive into the city and pay the costly fees to park your car.
Nice station, had a great afternoon filming trains. ScotRail drivers are incredibly friendly and several gave me a toot and a wave :nDrivers of 170452 and 158741 on the afternoon of 6th August, if you are reading this, I thank you
Quaint little station. Last stop before the Forth Bridge. No facilities here. No coffee or cafe.
