I have been cycling in London for many years and have mainly used independent bike shops for fixes, parts, etc. I have often found "chain" stores to have poor customer service and staff that know little about bikes. This is NOT the case with this store. The service is fantastic and their knowledge of bikes is of a high standard. I test rode one of their bikes, which I ended up buying. They were so incredibly helpful when it came to deciding which bike I wanted and despite it being their store they didn't pressure me into buying it. I test rode many bikes in various stores but the service here really made me seal the purchase. They went over and beyond to accommodate me. They even let me borrow a helmet to cycle home in. The manager, Ben, really knows his stuff and makes you feel like a valued customer. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. It's refreshing to find a chain store with staff as good as this.
Had a wonderful experience at this Cycle Surgery store. Unlike most big chain stores, where if you have a small issue with your bike you normally have to book in a full service, the store manager helped me get my chain back on in a timeless and fun manner. He was extremely helpful and happy to give me a hand. My chain had fallen and had gotten stuck between the wheel and the frame, so it just needed an allen key to sort it, but it is just one of those things you need to get done on the go, to keep riding. Thanks to the store manager it all got sorted in no time.
Ladies and gentlemen, don't risk your cash on buying a bike from Cycle Surgery in Holborn. I imagine my experience is illustrative of what could befall anybody buying a bike here. I had the misfortune of purchasing a Giant bike that was supposedly worth £550. To me at least, it seemed reasonable to expect that a new bike – especially at that price point – would be fully functional. Alas, this view was not shared by the Cycle Surgery staff. Right from the get-go, the gear mechanism was faulty and would consistently fail to change properly. I thought to myself, "no big deal – I'll get them to look at it." They agreed to, but there was no improvement. So I took it back in a few days later, only to be told that the rail derailleur for this model is simply not very good, apparently to the point where it's more ornamental than functional. In which case, how on earth can you justify selling – and indeed manufacturing – a defective product? To do so is surely crooked, since you are knowingly retailing something that doesn't work properly, while masquerading as a reputable sales outlet. With my pocket effectively picked, I'm now left with a new bike which cannot change gears properly. Anyway, in conclusion, please take your money elsewhere!
I had gone to the store to purchase a bike only to find out that they had just sold the last one earlier in the day. However instead of having my come back the following day a member of staff found the bike at the kings cross branch and cycled all the way there to bring it back with him. Well worth the wait. I got my dream bike and a great service. Would definitely come back.
There are too many times as a UK consumer that you get bad service. Thankfully dealing with Tom at the Holborn branch was not one of those examples. I don't take to review sites often but i felt this was worth shouting about. Tom was extremely helpful in navigating me a novice through the complexities of buying a road bike. We agreed on one and it was promptly shipped in from another branch. When I went for my fitting Tom advised it was probably 1cm too big for me and accordingly I would not get all of the benefit from the bike. Wow, Tom did not have to mention this and I would have been none the wiser. From that point on I had total trust in Tom and we did end up ordering another bike which is a much better fit. A very happy customer who benefited from some truly customer centric service. Thanks
I've recently picked up my bike after putting it in for a service costing over £170 and am appalled with the service. The bolt on the back rack was so lose it had dropped off causing my rack to fall onto my back wheel whilst I was riding, and just lost my front break pad whilst riding as again as it hasn't been secured properly. Would advise anyone thinking of using cycle surgery to look else where and not waste their time on people who don't know how to do their job or money on such a terrible quality service
Me and my lady asked for a full service and both times ended up with "check & tune" and the cleaning of the disc brakes. I appreciate they try to be kind and safe you money or get away with less work? they still charged a full £60 whereas for £30 more the bicycle would have had a full service. The reason we brought the bicycles was for the discs making a noise and not work fully, the issue was still present after the service. When questioning them all I got to hear was that disc brakes always make noise....
John helped me and he provided the best customer service I have had in ages. He patiently helped me with my bike lock, re-fitting it and making sure it was ok for me adjusting it several times so I had it just how I wanted it. He was also in a really good happy mood and just so nice to all the customers I saw him interact with. thanks again!
I don't normally leave reviews - in fact this may be my first ever - but I was so impressed by the quality and service provided by Phil that I felt obliged to write this! I came in with a few problems with my bike, and Phil went completely out of his way to assist me. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of cycling and training, but he was also a really nice bloke. I cannot recommend this place - and Phil - enough!
Hi, I would just like to pass on my thanks to the staff of the above store who serviced my bike today, I spoke with one of the team he was most helpful and went into great detail about how my gears work on my road bike of which was really good of him as I didn't know to much about this, my bike is now all sorted and for the first time since I bought it it's a ribble sportive it rides like a dream. Thank you for great service I will be back for my next bike service and help. Kind Regards Craig Burn
