After catching the Brightlingsea foot ferry, we set out down the southern coast line of Mersea island. Had no idea this areas was a country park. Such a stunning coast with the wartime relics, trees hanging from the top of the small cliffs, fossils and pebbles to discover in the sand. Well worth a visit if venturing across onto the island. Dog-friendliness: Nice open beaches with none of the usual signs. Picnic area: Everywhere is a picnic area in the beach, plenty of tree trunks and pillboxes to sit on.
Absolutely beautiful place! Lovely park area for the kids or adults if you want a go I did Toilets on site. Easy to pay for parking card payment
Visited on a bleak day most recently, but I do think it has a lot to offer for a country park; large natural playground, historic sights, ominous ruins from the recent past on the coastline and the usual walking trails. There are some great areas for bird watching if you're willing to explore further, just make sure you don't end up stuck in Mersea due to the high tide.
A lovely family seaside experience with lots of beach and the country park to walk through on the way. Great parking, toilets and snack shop.
A really nice place to go for a walk. Very scenic and some nice places to have a picnic. There's also a great play area for younger children. Plenty of interesting things to find on the beach, with lots of different types of shells. If you're walking your dog bring water for them on hot days as there isn't much shading in certain areas. Make sure you check tide times. Reasonably priced car park.
This park was way better than we could have expected. The play areas were nothing like we see in London. The kids had a great time and didn't want to leave. We could have honestly spent all day here quite easily. The little WWII bunker was really cool too. Defo worth the drive just to go to the park for the day and with the water being so close it's like a double day out. No graffiti ruining anything. It was beautiful.
Wonderful country park adjoining the East Mersea Flats Nature Reserve. Great walks with views over mud flats and salt marsh.
Nice beach, family friendly. Had a nice and relaxing day.. car park charge for full day is £5.50
Great place to walk for a couple of hours. Great coffee shop, great food parking is payable by app or Machine Limited Park, but people come and go all the time Play area for children and boot trip if you wish.
Fantastic place for a walk along the coast line with spotlessly clean toilets a small cafe and a large car park it also has a massive children's adventure play area for the kids plus a bird watching hide over the marshes, worth a visit for a nice stroll and a picnic.
