The Cuckoo Trail goes all the way from Hampden Park to Heathfield. It is a lovely trail to go along whether you're cycling,walking, or in certain parts of the trail, horse riding. You can take your dogs for walks along the Cuckoo Trail, as many people do.nI Rode the length of the Cuckoo Trail. Started in Eastbourne and rode to Polgate via Pig Lane. Joined the Cuckoo Trail and rode all the way to Heathfield. There's plenty of stops along the route with picnic style benches as well as other benches to stop and have a rest. There's also cafes along the route, like The Cuckoo Shack, which is not far from the start at polegate. There's also cafés in Hailsham,Horam, and Heathfield. At Hellingly, there's a parking area for horseboxes as well as for cars.nIt is a very nice place to walk along. As you can see in the photos, there is also a bike station not far from polegate, so that if you need to make any repairs to your bike there is tools attached so you can do any repairs, and also a pump do you can inflate your tyres.
Walked Polegate to Heathfield, 11 miles.nThe old railway track is tarmacked most of the way, as it is part of the National Cycle Path route, thankfully not too many bikes todaynThis isn't the most spectacular of walks, but there are plenty of birds flitting about, and in places some reminders of when the railway was in usenAllow 4 hours for the walk
A vibrant trail connecting heathfield to polegate surrounded by nature. The entire path is concrete or stones, so very easy to bike or take the dogs out on.
It's a really lovely trail great for cycling and walking alike . There are lots of friendly faces along the way . I recommend not doing it solo it can be a bit quiet in places. Make sure you have a charged battery and roughly know where you are in case you fall ill or need assistance . What3words is good on this trail for definite
