Had afternoon tea the staff was super lovely and organised it for takeaway for us, The only downside is the afternoon tea was £17 per person We got 1 triangle of sandwhich, a slither of a sausage roll and a mini Yorkshire pudding and literally a crust of a baguette it was all lovely food but just the portion sizing was off and especially for the amount spent and other places I’ve been this is by far the smallest portion sizing received for the price paid.. but the food was really nice.x
Came on Thursday with friends for afternoon tea, it was the best I’ve ever had everything was beautiful even bought 4 rocky roads to take home for family, they really enjoyed them. The ladies were lovely nothing too much trouble. Infact I’m hoping to book another table next Friday for my birthday. Well done ladies.
My absolute favourite café. Best Latte anywhere. Tasty, fresh food prepared from fresh ingredients. Great selection available, from a Bacon sandwich to a Cupcake deserving of an art award. All with friendly first class service and great value.
Superb home made goodies and scones to die for. The place is so clean and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended
Unfortunately there is no odour extraction so as soon as you walk in you are overwhelmed by the smell of grease. It should be first priority in a cafe that’s frying.
Came for Christmas afternoon tea and im in utter shock at what we got for £28 for two. Everything was absolute minature portions. Barely enough for one never mind two! Come back so hungry. Two tiny triangles for your sandwich is not good enough , a mouthful of soup, 4 tiny tiny squares of cake I mean 3cm by 3cm in size and one poxy slither of sausage roll. Asked for a milkshake - none left Dilute juice- non left Card machine- Don't have one Never was once asked if we enjoyed our food 100% worst afternoon tea I've ever had.
We have visited this cafe on several occasions in the past. When we called in yesterday we saw it had been completely changed. We're unsure if there was a change of ownership since our last visit. There was only one other party when our group of 3 arrived, and their order was being served. We took some time to browse the menu and cakes, then our order was taken at our table. We ordered 2 lattes, tea for one without milk, a jam slice, a toasted teacake, a lemon tart, a malteesers slice and a tuna & cucumber sandwich. The sandwich was listed as tuna mayo & cucumber, and I expected that's how it would be served, so I just asked for tuna & cucumber. The lady asked if I wanted tuna mayo, and I said I did. When the sandwich came it was without the mayo. However, that was acceptable so I ate it. The 2 lattes were only lukewarm, and mine was too strong. Looking forward to the cakes, we drank our coffee, but no staff took any notice. During this time, the diners from upstairs paid up and left. No-one else came in, other than 4 or 5 members of the owners' family. They served themselves drinks and the children were served cake, and they all chatted. Someone removed our dirty plates to give us more room, he said - and yes, the round tables are very tiny but failed to ask if we wanted anything else. Still we waited. Having finished our coffees, we decided not to have the cakes and I went to pay the bill. No-one bothered to ask if everything was to our liking, so I just said we didn't want the cakes as we'd finished our drinks. There was no offer of a refill to go with our cakes, so I said I didn't want to take the cakes away with me. The owner stated that the cafe was manic. I pointed out that there was only one other group who appeared to have finished eating and the lady's family. My change was handed over with attitude. Whether it's under new ownership or not, we will not be revisiting this cafe. I suggest you eat somewhere else - somewhere that has tables large enough to accommodate more than a couple of plates and two drinks.
I will not be going back... It was Sisden's Christmas Market today, so I called in for a soup and roll. After quite a wait, the soup was served but it was barely warm. I asked for it to be reheated. This took quite some time and when it was served again it was hardly any warmer, so again I returned it. Eventually, it was delivered and was hot. It camewith a stodgy half of a tea cake and a sliver of butter. The soup itself was a home made vegetable soup, but it was not good. All I could taste was too much pepper and possibly cloves ? After eating it I put the correct amount of cash on the counter and left. No one askedf I had enjoyed it or said goodbye. It was not at all busy inside the cafe, though there was a lot going on in the street outside. It was all very badly organised, the staff didn't seem to be working together at all. The only person who seemed to care was an elderly gentleman, a member of the family I would guess, who had asked if I was being looked after and was at the door when I left and asked if it had been alright. I told him it was not good and I would not be going back there.
Breakfast are fabulous very tasty produce. Coffee-latte best in town.Choc cake & take away sausage sandwich to die for. You will not be disappointed.
They do a cracking breakfast and the cakes are luxurious, especially when washed down with a brew or a smooth coffee. Crumbs is well worth a visit and the staff are always helpful and smiling.
