What has happened ? This used to be a top establishment for quality fish and chips. Waited over 30 minutes for an ‘In’ meal that had more batter than fish. The batter was thick and the cod was so thin and mushy it had no sign of flakes. The whole meal was ‘oily’. No heating to the restaurant area. What a disappointment to how it used to be. It’s on the road to nowhere.
Just had cod and chips 1 pm today ,first time for long while at crown point at j s to say was disappointed was an understatement cod and chips twice ,cost £15 20 definitely won't be coming again will stick to our regular at the Regal sea road Felixstowe. 70 per cent batter 30 per cent cod Chips look like heated up and bits Very poor value Someone needs training to improve Half went in bin
Best fish and chips around! Started coming back to J's about a month ago, been in 3 times since including today. The batter is perfect and crisp, not too oily or heavy. Chips are nice and crisp and meals have been consistently good. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Good job guys!

Good food, can get busy and prepare to wait for the food as most of it always seems to be cooked from fresh which is good!Food: 5/5
Update- Nov 2022. Back to the food old J's. Great chips, great service. Good size portions. Been coming here for many years. Further update to below. Service back to a good standard again. Great work. Updated review. Food still great. Service lately has gone down a little. Young lads and girls more interested in flirting between themselves than serving. Hopefully will return to the great service they used to have.
1st 2 visits were very good indeed. Good size portions and fish and chips cooked to perfection. 3rd visit just before closing not do good. Batter on both fish soft and soggy and chips overcooked. 1st visit I did have to wait 25 mins despite pre ordering...Hoping the next visit is better.

I don’t know if it’s been taken over but certainly gone down hill just bought chips and they tasted like they were cooked the day before like cardboard It’s not the first time but will be the last lot better fish and chip bars around area
