We ended up making a short notice booking for 3 families for dinner and they were fantastic. The food was delicious, home made, large portions and excellent value.nnThey were also so friendly even introducing us to the family dog because we had dog obsessed small children lol.nnGiven a chance we will definitely visit again. Thank you for a fab evening.
They charged me an extra £15 for checking out 30 minutes extra as per terms and conditions. Who reads terms and conditions? Be nice if they told me in person when we checked in, but nothing said. Maybe it was because I left the cleaner a present in the toilet, but I flushed it 4 times and it kept blocking.nShame as room was okay and shower good ...
This hotel is below basic. We tried to phone the hotel before we arrived as we were running late, and the phones don't work, nor did they 3 weeks earlier when I booked. The website has no up to date information which may have alerted us that the chef was off and no food was available that night. It is difficult to park nearby, so we had to struggle with suitcases, bags and a dog quite a way. After an 8 hour drive we had a supermarket sandwich in our room. The room was a long trek through corridors and up three flights of stairs, past patched ceilings and parts of old pianos. Our room was clean and comfy, but we were disturbed to see the electric sockets were cracked showing wires.nI would not stay here again, there was a lack of interest and responsibility by the owners to anything we asked, not a good example of hospitality.nnIn response, I refute totally all yournpoints. We arrived at 7pm, my husband was not aggressive,. We were cold, wet, tired and hungry and not welcome.
Have stayed at The Crown Hotel a number of times. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Bedrooms are always clean and tidy, beds very comfortable, ensuite great, always plenty of hot water for a shower. Plenty of tea and coffee in room. Public areas clean and tidy. Samantha and Steve who own The Crown are so friendly and show a true interest in the history of the building. Lots of information of The Common Riding ... If you visit ask about what is a celebration of the town's history. What can be said about the food, great selection available and prepared and served to a high standard, the good quality of ingredients makes this a dining experience much higher than the normal run of the mill meals served at many eatery's. Full cooked breakfast is also well prepared and will fill the most hungry of mouths. Ask Sam about the haggis. I'm a townie and found it very interesting ??? The bar has a very good selection of beers and spirits and always made to feel welcome by the bar staff and customers. During our stays we have seen the upgrading that the owner have done and are going to continue to do. Thank you to Sam and Steve and all the staff that make a stay here enjoyable and we are looking forward to visiting in the future.
Room had everything you need.nBeds were comfortable and room was clean and tidy.nPlenty of tea and coffee available.nBathroom area had recently been upgraded.nThe cooked breakfast was delicious and there was also a good choice of cereals on offer.nOwners were welcoming and friendly.nMy only real complaint was the main door was shut at 2220hrs and use of the door fob was never explained to us by the barman on our check in.nTook him 15 minutes to answer the doorbell.
